Hello,

Just an update: I am sure most of you know where I live may be (most probably) start flooding within a couple of weeks. I will start moving at the end of the week and should be finish by the end of the weekend. My dad and I will be moving to Lafayette in my sister Kay's boyfriends home, which happens to be behind her home. He works in England and is gone for 5 to 6 weeks at a time and home for 2 weeks. When the water recedes, I will go home to access the damage. It could take weeks before that happens.

Please keep me and the residents of Butte LaRose in your prayers. I will try to keep my FB page updated to what is going on with me.

Thanks for your prayers.

PS I have added photos to the LA GTG. I will continue to add some untill all 107 have been posted.

Carolyn, I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I cannot imagine what you must be feeling having to leave your home without knowing what you are coming back too. Thank goodess you have enough warning to gather your treasures and leave. Know your Sisters will be thinking of you and praying for you and your Dad.

Just so sorry to have what I'd heard verified! Doggone.. I had no idea the waters would sit for weeks. I somehow thought floods would move right on through quickly.. Bless your hearts!! I am glad you are given time to move valuables out. What a chore!

Take care... thinking of you and yours and y'all are in my prayers!

Update:

Can't sleep, so am making plans again (they keep changing). I decided to take the whole week off from work, instead of waiting until Thursday. I will start working in the garages (mine and dad's) to get the stuff off the floor and lower shelves to higher areas in garage.

I had been slowly getting rid of STUFF (especially in garages) for my anticpation of retiring in 2 years 6 months and traveling fulltime or almost fulltime. Now, I wish I had started earlier and moved faster.

Carolyn - So very sorry to hear of this plight. Prayers for you, your dad and all the residents who will be affected. Didn't realize that you had time to gather things together before you relocate. Hope your property has minimal water damage. Is there any chance you could live in your 5th wheel some place where it isn't flooding! Or maybe just retire early and head out?? Please take care.

Yes, if my home is destroyed, I can live in my RV. Still have 2 yrs 6months before retiring. My dad can live with my sister, Kay, who lives in Lafayette.

Carolyn, you have been on my mind for the last several days. Thanks for your frequent posts on the forum and FB. I keep thinking of the wonderful time we all had visiting you and that beautiful area just a week ago.

Hi to all,

New info: Last night at the community meeting we were told the flood crest will be 29" because they have gotten new data depicting after 38 years of silt buildup, it has been move up 2 feet. This info came from the NOAA office out of New Orleans. Not looking good at all.

Had a long day packing, had to purchase more totes. Will have another long day packing and moving lots of totes to Lafayette, which is about 30 minutes from my home. I gave the lady helping me loads of books, clothes and other stuff. She is going to bring the books to several nursing homes she visits and the other stuuf to a charitable organization. I am happy to see someone will get use of all that stuff. I had made up my mind I was not moving it! I have been up since about 4:00 and have another big pile of stuff for her to donate to someone. I am sure I will have more stuff I am going to give away. I have been wanting to do this since I moved back to my home in September. I had given a lot of stuff away then. Anyway, I am getting my To Do list accomplished. It is very overwhelming!

Please continue to pray for me and our community.
