We had our family Thanksgiving Dinner today and what a HOOT it was..
My brother, Larry, and wife, Betty got to talking about Milt and I taking Mama and Aunt Sybil to west Texas after Great Aunt Mae had died....and bringing home a cargo trailer of antiques and things of Aunt Mae's they wanted. Uncle Snort had this moth-eaten , one-eyed old deer head hanging on the wall..... and as a joke--- we tossed that in the trailer and told brother Larry that Uncle Snort had left instructions Larry was to have that----- AND his favorite tie...which was a yellow tie with a red horses head on it.. We told Larry this big lie about those two "gifts and inheritances"...and this was 30 years ago...or more.. When Larry and Betty talked about it today... Milt and I finally confessed about what we'd done. We had lots of laughs and comments over it.
The two of them got a charge out of it....and they said Larry took the deer head and hung it on the gate to the farm.... and a nephew of theirs graduated from college---and they gifted him with the yellow tie with red horses head.... and signed it "You are my favorite nephew"....and signed it Uncle Snort..... the boy opened the gift and said with a puzzled look on his face said "Who the hell is Uncle Snort?".... Since that day---- every Christmas that beat up old yellow tie with red horses head on it....turns up as a Christmas gift for someone...!!!! What a wonderful day! Life is fun!!
Happy RVing Y'all!
