I like Direct best because ALL channels come from one Satellite. With two receivers, one in living room, one in bedroom, we can watch separate channels. Dish is not like that-- and sometimes the channels are on different satellites, and someone has to do without the channel they prefer to watch.
Back when I had a dish I had to manually set, my receiver did all the work for me...and it would make a "tone" I could hear outside... and it beeped faster as I got nearer the satellite. It was still a pain to set.... and at times made me SO angry.
We bought the automatic.. and I love to tell the story how I approached the installer with pen and paper and told him to give directions, in baby language, on how to set it. He said "OK... write this down. Turn it on. Turn it off. And it was just that easy!!! 
We had that automatic rooftop unit on 3 different RVs and it was part of the trade to have it taken off and installed on the new RV we were purchasing...free of charge! I loved that thing, and where I went --- so did it!!
IF I buy another RV--- I will buy the portable automatic such as Martha has. Those are awesome, I'm hearing.
