I had a death grip on the steering wheel the whole time I went over that 5 mile bridge. The wind was 20-25 mph and have no idea how high the gusts were. It sounded like people were bowling on my roof or at the very least running up and down it. I thought I was going to loose the A/Cs. When I got to the other side, I pulled into the rest area to check out what might be hanging off my rig. I had held the steering wheel so tight, my hands were tingly. I couldn't see a thing wrong. My son, forbids me to climb the ladder. He says I am an accident waiting to happen. So I climbed on top a picnic table instead. Everything looks fine. I guess the wind was making my roof flex. Sure was scary, but I am here in Sault Ste Marie, snug as a bug, with my crock pot on, and looking out at the waterway in front of me. Life sure is an adventure. It has turned much cooler. It is 65 outside and it is not even 4pm. Coolest I have been since last winter. Rained a little bit so far but I am hoping the weather will improve tomorrow.

Oh Karen, my hands hurt just thinking about that trip. I hate high bridges when it's windy. Do you have to cross it again? When I'm at the lake, the calmest time is early in the morning. If you have to cross it again check and see what the wind is. I might get up there and have to live there because I would be afraid to come back. lol

Oh Karen....I am SO sorry that bridge was as bad as you had dreaded, with the strong winds not helping one iota!!! Glad you made it over.. and nothing was damaged.

But, isn't that park wonderful!! Milt and I pulled our Class C in front ways (backwards) so we could see the river out of the windshield. We were parked in a riverfront site---and the lights all night long as the barges and ships worked the river were just mesmerizing! Just loved it! In those younger days I was one who stayed up half the night and up again early... didn't require much sleep and I sat alone as Milt slept and watched and enjoyed the riverwork lights most of the night.

Keep on enjoying!!

Wow. I am happy you made crossing the bridge safely. That scared me. I hope I don't have to experience that one day.

PS I am told to stay off the RV ladder and roof, as well.

The park is great, but I couldn't get a river side view. That is ok, I can still see from my MH, and it is only a short walk. I saw 4 ships already. And, no, I am not going back that way. I am going to go west to WI and drop down to the Madison area, then Indiana, KY, AL and home to Fl. I am taking my time, but plan to be home for Mike's birthday.

What a brave soul you are!!! I had been reading some of the posts and many moons ago I lived in that area. I was like, holy buckets, she is going to drive over that thing!!!! I am glad you made it, and so glad that you had faith in yourself to know you could. It is beautiful there though. And I agree with it usually isn't windy anywhere early in the morning. That is when I like to do things that don't need done in the wind. Can you post pics on here? You should post some pics for us to enjoy it with you!!!!

Drive safe,

Crystal
