Hello,

I will be flying into Kalamazoo July 26th (Monday afternoon), then will be transported to the Mccamly Plaza Hotel in Battle Creek. Tuesday and Wednesday I will be attending a training class for work. Thursday, I would have been flying home.

Before my ankle accident, I made reservations to stay in Battle Creek until Sunday morning (on my own nickel). My flight plans were also booked for a returning trip home on Sunday, August 1. So, Thursday thru Saturday, I am free to do what I want. I leave early Sunday morning to return home.

I won't be able to explore the area like I intended, since I don't have two good feet. :( So, I am going to make the best of it. I will have access to a wheel chair while at the hotel. I am not sure If I am able to take it out the hotel, but I will have my crutches with me.

I will probably hang out at the pool. I may rent an auto and drive around the town and other surrounding towns enjoying the view.

If any of the sisters of RV America that may live in the surrounding area (if any), maybe we can meet up, have lunch or dinner.

Hi Carolyn,

Sorry to hear about your ankle injury. JJ is the only one I know of who is in MI, but I don't know if she's there yet or in what part.

If you want a great place to go visit, I'd recommend Frankenmuth. It's a sweet little German town with great architecture an awesome fudge shop! lol You can park right in the back and it wouldn't be too far too walk ;) It would be about a 2 hour drive for you if you decide to rent a car.

Then, right down the road is Bronner's Christmas Wonderland and Silent Night Memorial Chapel. The chapel is quite impressive and is a replica of the original Silent Night Chapel in Oberndorf/Salzburg, Austria.

Hope that helps you some.

Love,

Sharon

Hello Sharon,

Thanks for the info. If I decide to rent a vehicle, I def. will have time to drive there and back. I would rather drive around, than sit around pool.

Carolyn, I totally agree with Sharon. Frankenmuth is a "not to miss place", and is known as Michigan's Little Bavaria. Fantasy Carriage Tours has horse drawn carriage rides and would be a way for you to tour and see the town without having to walk. There is a $5 off coupon on-line.

FRANKENMUTH

I am so sorry to hear of your ankle injury...but hope you are able to fit in some touristy things while you are there! It's a beautiful area.

Happy Travels!

Joella

I kept thinking the name sounded familiar...just realized it's because I have a cousin who lives there! Sorry I can't ask her for info but her brother passed away this week so she is in SC.
