Just flying by for a while to say "hidy" and chat a smattering!

No real news here... Son and daughter did come for Father's Day, bearing gifts....but the important and most enjoyed part was the nice, long visits!!

Friend and I went girly running yesterday, and we tried to go to every store in College Station!! We went to Big Lots, Hobby Lobby, Bed Bath and Beyond, Wal-mart, Sam's, Dollar Tree, Kirklands, Heartland, Charming Charlies (jewelry, hats, purses) where Joy bought 3 necklaces for 70% off and got all 3 for less than $5. and to World Market. All I bought was groceries and a microwave fish and veggie steamer. I do a lot of microwave cooking...and ALL of those items are cooked in it.

We ate lunch at Red Lobster and the grilled catfish, steamed broccoli and salad was GREAT.

Our last stop was Sam's....as wanted meats there. Put the in the iced cooler...and we came on home.

Am going to Brenham for a haircut, and there are more meats on sale...so will pick up more for the freezer. Planned on lunch with granddaughter, but her Manager is gone for the day...and she can't make lunch as will be the "play-like manager" for the day.

Enjoy your day! I will!

Joella

I swear, Joella, I get out of breath just reading about all you do! I walk around one or two stores and I'm wiped out for the rest of the day! Whatever it is that you take -- I want some!

You will love your micro steamer! I use mine 4 or 5 times a week! Fresh asparagus is cooked to perfection and I even do ears of corn!

Happy Thursday, yourself. Hope you're resting up! Knowing you, I bet you have yard work lined up!

Joella,

Please put a picture of the micro steamer dish you are speaking about? Thanks. That might be something I might be interested in.

It has a bottom tray to hold water, a middle tray with holes in it to drain and a top cover. Now I'll have to learn to use it and get it "just right" with my microwave. I paid about $8.50 for it... You can buy it at Sears, Bed Bath and Beyond. Sears was the cheapest I saw advertised on the internet... It was $7.99 there.

Here's what the write up on the Internet says about it..

Steam delicious fish and vegetable dinners in just minutes right in the microwave with this Microwave Fish and Vegetable Steamer. This microwave fish steamer features an adjustable steam control vent to allow you to control the amount of moisture in the vegetable steamer and get fish and veggies with the right consistency every time. Progressive International Microwave Fish and Veggie Steamer Features Constructed from durable plastic. Steams fish and veggies right in the microwave in just minutes. Adjustable steam control vent allows you to control the amount of steam in this fish steamer. Clear lid allows you to monitor fish and veggies as they cook. One quart capacity

Going to steam some broccoli, cauliflower, Snap beans and baby carrots in it tonight...

Happy RVing!

Yesterday I brought 3 of the barn cats to the spay and neuter clinic. I have to get up at 5 to get them there for 8:00. Then I went and mowed at the trailer. I wanted to go shopping after that but I must have gotten too hot and got a migraine headache. Had to drive home with an ice bag on my head. That mowing is going to kill me yet. This morning I had to go get my cats and bring them home. Then I went and did what I wanted to do yesterday. I drug around Lafayette all afternoon. I went to Stein Mart, Pets Mart, T J Maxx, Hobby Lobby, World Market, Ross and Target. Wish I had seen Joella's steamer I could have gone to Bed Bath and Beyond too. I have a 20% off coupon. lol

Then when I get home Harold wants to give 5 calves a shot. It's too hot and we are too old to be messing around with cattle. At least it's only 5 and not 100 like we use to keep.

Tomorrow I hope I can stay in the air conditioning.

Spent the evening trying to get ready to leave on the 4th of July marathon camp-out tomorrow...we'll be home on the 5th but I'll probably come home a couple days after work to do a few things...it's only 20 miles. When I come home from work I'm going to be one busy woman, hopefully we'll be ready to pull out by 8:00 pm. There is so much that I can't load because of the heat. We've been waiting for an electrician to come and put in a 30 amp hook-up outside but he just hasn't made it yet. I'm afraid to load the refrigerator for fear of load tripping the breaker..plus we've had a lot of power outages in the last week.

Everybody has been busy!! I'm glad I posted my news---so others did too! Just neat to have an update of my friends life, and daily doings.

The steamer worked wonderfully. I put the recommended 2 Tablespoons of water in the back. I placed broccoli, cauliflower, snap peas, baby carrots and mushrooms in there, sprayed them with Wal-mart's Canola Oil--- then sprinkled on Chicken Bouillon Powder. Microwaved it for 8 minutes on 50% powder. I had to do the cauliflower and carrots longer to get them tender as I wished. Wow! Next time, I'll do those first for a couple of minutes, then add the rest of the veggies. Was it good! You can use a frozen mix so much easier...but there is no comparison in taste with the fresh veggies.

Pat, how would it work to put your refrigerator on propane and not take a chance on overloading the electric plug?

Enjoy your day, all! Happy RVing!

Joella
