At the Aransas Pass GTG we tried to figure out what to call our little group and couldn't really come up with anything. Many of us are are on the forum, some on chat, some belong to RVWomen, some just like to RV. We come from several different groups. Then after my long drive from Texas to West Virginia, after I had plenty of time to think, I came up with the following idea and sent it out to most of the gals who had been there. My apologies to Martha and Lynn - I didn't have your emails. Hope someone forwarded this to you. The response I got back was yes, let's go for it. Wanted to share it with the rest of the forum sisters, because anyone who wants is welcome to be a Pink Flamingo - you just have to enjoy RV travel. This was my email.
I've had a lot of alone windshield time to think about what a great weekend I enjoyed with all of you in Aransas Pass, and thinking of what Karen and I could come up with in November. Well, as you might have guessed, my mind wandered and I got to thinking about what we could call ourselves. Several years ago flamingos were the talk of the forum - in fact someone even suggested a logo, but I don't know if that ever happened. I even have a pair of pink flamingo/travel trailer flannel pj's thanks to Trudy, Mollysmom.
Anyway, what would you think about calling ourselves, "The Pink Flamingos." Because we are all extreme individuals, we wouldn't really need an official logo - we could each express our "flamingoness" as we wanted. Anything from a cheap pink t-shirt to a collection of flamingo bling. The guys, like Milt and Vic and others who might accompany their pink flamingos to a gathering, flocking or whatever they call a group of flamingos, could be "blue flamingos" or whatever other color they wanted. We're just a group of gals some from the forum, some from RVW, and some who just like to RV - so no membership, dues, etc., just getting together for fun and a reason to go somewhere. Of course, the forum is the most logical place to inform others of our GTGs.
So, I'm anxious to hear comments from the rest of you. It seems like everytime I turn around I'm finding flamingo "stuff" that I just have to have, however, so far I have been able to resist. After all there is just so much room in a class B. Trust me though, I'm sure by the next time I see any of you I will have acquired a bit of flamingo kitsch.
