Yesterday I went to Wal-Mart for a little shopping. When I came out I was pretty sure I remembered what line I had parked in. I saw my car and headed toward it. I was thinking that in the sunlight it sure looked more gold than mine did. It had a spoiler on it like mine. Anyway when I got almost up to it I saw that it said it was a Malibu and mine is a Maxima. So I stood there behind the car beside the one I thought was mine and looked around trying to locate my car. I decided to hit the panic button on my keys and guess what? The car I was STANDING BEHIND honked! I didn't even recognize my own car. How sad is that?

My DH went to Wal-Mart in my Blazer one time and when he came out he was looking all over for his truck. Better than that, I met my son in town and we went to another town and left his car in our town. We made it all the way home before we remembered his car was still in town. In my defense, he was teen and spending a few hours dealing with a teenager will make you loose your mind. lol

I always try to park at the same place at Wal-Mart so I can find my vehicle.

Soon after I bought my truck (it's used......) a friend of mine, who was eating breakfast with me at a Shari's, jumped up saying my truck was being stolen - it wasn't - but it looked just like mine and she felt pretty silly.

Funny stories...I always try to go out the same door I came in and the same angle change that angle and you might never find it! We used to have a van always liked it when the canoe was on top of it so much easier to find! when I'm working on a afghan I keep yard on the dash board makes it a lot easier to reconize

Needing a Passport, a friend and I went to downtown Houston, and had to park several blocks away from the needed location. We walked to the building, talking as we went and got our Passports --- and a European Driver's License for me.

When we left to go back to the car, she hadn't a clue as to where it was! When I'm a passenger, I pay no attention and just notice the "pretties" of the world as we travel along. She went into Panic Mode. I must admit it did hit my mind about having to call someone to come all the way to downtown Houston to pick us up! I told her to hold on a minute. Knowing which direction we came from to access the Passport building location, we headed off in that direction. I watched closely as we walked and let my mind assimilate things I'd seen as we walked and talked. We made several turns at corners, and I got us back to her car.

From that point on, I never let anyone lose me again---- and paid attention to what was going on.

In Paris, we took a tram and walked some too to go tour the Eiffel Tower. On the way back to the hotel, she was thoroughly convinced we were going the wrong way. Told her to trust me and give me 3-4 blocks more and we'd be back to the hotel. Whew!! We made it!

Many times, we'll take the truck or Jeep shopping instead of the usual car....and when we exit the store, I'll have that momentary blank mind and "where is my car feeling"!! Happens to us all.

Happy Travels!

Joella

I once packed half a cart of groceries into the back of the wrong stationwagon! We had only had the car a week or so. I noticed that I was packing a Chevy instead of a Pontiac! You never saw anyone unload grocery bags so fast in your life! Of course, that was back in the days when no one locked their tailgate doors!

Sure glad I'm not the only one. Although, have never actually "lost" my car. I like it when the MH is parked in a WalMart lot - sooooo easy to see!!

Since it looks like I am NOT the only one answering this I'll add my experience. Last week I was wondering why the key wouldn't fit in the car door lock. Wrong car. Mine was parked behind me.

Not long ago I got in the car put the car in the ignition but it wouldn't turn. Could not figure that out until I looked around inside the car and realized it wasn't mine. I jumped out real fast thinking someone who did own it might just think I was stealing it.

I've also forgotten which car I was driving if we had made a car switch that day and come out looking for an SUV when that day I had the VW.
