When I saw this month celebrated Women's History, I thought of women and RVing. I did some Internet surfing and read how women were not expected, nor "allowed" to drive. They were put on earth to take care of mate and children and home...and little else was expected of them. IMO, they were surely left out of the fun in life!!

I came across the following RVing and Women photos. How uncomfortable to RV and camp in dresses, cloche hats and high heels..

Looks like she's wearing a suit and heels she would also wear to the office... IF she's allowed to hold a job!

This is a RVing Club on a Rally. Looks like to me they could go straight to church in their dressy gear!

I was thinking of how RVing has changed, particularly for we women.

It would have astounded the couples of this photo to think women would one day own and drive their own RV's and be in command of their own lives. Some would even be full-timing and seeing the nation in their home on wheels! That would have been mind-boggling!!

Changes have been made in Woman's History. I for one celebrate that fact!!

You go girls!!! Enjoy your rightful place in life!

Happy RVing!

Joella

Thanks Joella! What wonderful history - and bless our sisters who preceded us. Without them we would surely not be in the place we are! And I LIKE where we are!

I consider myself as a modern day pioneer, my great great grandma would have loved having all my conviences instead of her covered wagon treking to Utah in the 1800's. Queen size air bed instead of a blanket on the ground under the wagon, hot water shower instead of a bath in the ice cold river...if you are lucky to have water close by where you are camped. Frig's/freezers and a microwave and not have to cross your fingers that the guys have to shoot or catch your dinner and then cook it over a uncontrolled fire and have to salt everything to preserve it from spoiling.

Our ancestors worked their butts off and barely got a thank-You, because that's what women were suppose to do!! Now I really feel lazy in this generation!!

Great pictures. We've come along way baby... as I sit here barefoot and in jeans & t-shirt (All American Grandma in red white and Blue) There probably wasn't any sitting around the camp fire drinking and visiting with your feet up. More cooking than enjoying.

My favorite aunt was a business woman in Dallas when I was a child. She wouldn't have thought of going to her office unless she had a hat, heels and gloves on. I wish I could find the picture of me at 3 in her high heels, hat and a purse as big as I was. She wore slacks at home but never owned a pair of jeans. She influenced me more than anyone else. Not dress wise lol but she opened my world to the possibilities open to me.

Great pictures Joella.

I love all the good things we as women can do today. We can wear jeans, shorts, tank tops and let our hair blow in the breeze, etc. etc. We're lucky. Even today, women in lots of other countries around the world can't enjoy the freedoms we have - like driving a big diesel pusher motorhome. LOL
