When cooking meats, I sprinkle it with salt, pepper and garlic powder. This means, grab the salt container, sprinkle it on--- put it down..do the same with the pepper and then thirdly, repeat with the garlic powder. THEN, ya gotta turn the meat over and repeat all three processes.
I do this most every time I cook meat....and thought there's got to be a better way. I had a big plastic empty shaker container that chili powder came in..bought at Sam's store. I decided to mix up a 3 parts salt, 2 parts garlic powder and 1 part pepper.
I took the container, laid it down on it's side. I used a ruler and measured and marked off 3" in salt, 2" in garlic powder and 1" in pepper. Then, put it upright and poured in the spices to the measured mark. When completed, it looked like one of those colored sand artworks. I then shook it up until all was evenly distributed. The shaker has a flip top lid for ease of use.
That night I used it and what a difference it made! Shake the spices on with one hand... grab and turn the meat over with the other hand...and shake spices on that side. What a time saver! I was pleased!
I guessed pretty well at the amount of each spice used for our taste, so I lucked out there.
It worked really well...and one container takes up less room on the shelf.
Happy RVing y'all!
