Karen, I had the same problem changing sheets in my previous MH. It was always 90 degrees inside when I would have to change the sheets. I found that I could lift up on one side front and then put my foot up on the platform, then the mattress would rest on my knee. My mattress weighed a ton it seemed. There really was no good way of doing it. If there were two people doing it then it went much easier. Unfortunately I was almost always on my own.

Karen, changing sheets in an RV is simply a "two person job"....more so if you are short. My tip for this chore is there HAS to be another RVing lady who is alone...and y'all could form a buddy system on making your beds.... Form a partnership and help one another.

Another idea is to leave the bed made at all times and sleep in/on one of those snug sacks.. The even make them of silk, and fold up to nothing and can be tucked away anywhere small during the day.. I like to sleep all over the bed, so I'd need a double size sack..

Have a good one!

My Aunt lived in a small tralier for years when I was a girl. She had the same problem even back then. She only used flat sheets on her bed. She would sew two sheets togeather, just the part that touched the top of the bed, she would tuck the bottom sheet under the best she could and sleep with her head at the foot of the bed. A few years ago we saw something simular to this. She should have pattoned the ones she made. Who knows she could have made some money off them.

I wish I could tell you what I do because I do do it myself and as you know am short. and I come out of it hot and sweaty it helps to shut the door ie no hot air I think I do one side and then go to the other side and do it....when I replace my comforter this winter do didn't know that it weighed a ton....and I for the life of me can't figure out how in the world it shifts so much one night dh's side has more the next my side as more and on and on weird says I love the color of it but so wish I'd not bought it because of it's weight....

It's doable Karen find your way and it will become easier

Last winter at Quartzite, Evie (Pooker) was showing me her rv and she told me that when she replaced her queen size mattress she put in a full size one instead and it made it so much easier for her to make it up!

Yup! I did get the double size mattress, but I'm alone so it works for me. Might be too tight for a couple. It only gives you 3" of space on each side, but that's just enough to get your hands down.

Before that, though, I bought a long handled, plastic flat spatula to push the fitted bottom sheet down over the corners and it worked like a charm. Might take a bit of practice, Karen, but it beats scraping your knuckles every time. My bed is up against walls on 3 sides, so putting sheets down over the mattress while kneeling on it is a real challenge!

Do you think it would work to put Velcro on the sides of the mattress, then Velcro on the edges of a flat sheet and just Velcro one to the other and use that instead of a fitted sheet ?? I would think that sticky backed Velcro would hold tight enough to the mattress so you could pull the sheet off without pulling the Velcro off of the mattress, you may need to just do it a bit carefully. I'd suggest sewing the Velcro to the sheet, the sticky stuff would come off in the wash.

You may also need to buy a flat sheet that's one size bigger then your bed so you have enough material to fit all the way over the mattress.

Just an idea !

I like the idea of the snug sack. I really don't move around in bed to much, so I think it would work pretty good. Thanks for all the tips. Just looked at the price. I bet I could find material and sew one up in silky material.

Karen, here's a website for As Seen On TV ads for a Dreamie. Buy one for $19.95...get another free till end of Feb.

You can't buy the fabric for that. And would make a good hands on pattern too.
