baby blanket pattern ok this is a pic of the baby quilt layout that I am using...NOT the quilt itself, I will post that when it is done. I did get all the pieces cut out and all ready to sew. It claims to be able to make it in a day so we shall see. I found fleece that matches the fabric I bought for the quilt so I am going to use it to make a couple blankies for him too. Oh...his name is going to be Cullen Alexander and due March 16th.

I learned how to tie quilts on Thursday! Much more sophisticated than I would have thought - although yes, simplicity in itself. Duh................

Hope you are feeling perkier!

A quilt makes such a lovely and thoughtful gift...and am certain it will be fully appreciated!

I'll be looking forward to the photos of the completed quilt. I know you said it would be "boy colors"..

Is Cullen a family name? I like it when a family name can be incorporated into the baby's name. Didn't work good in my case...but our son does have his dad's and my daddy's name....of George. He is not called that, but goes by his middle name.

My cousin was a Stephens from home.....(as the old-timers here say ---- meaning maiden name)... and one of her son's name is Stephen. That's nice!!

Enjoy the day, all! Stay warm and snuggly!!

Well, Joella, I suppose it could be considered a family name...LOL. It is the last name of the vampire family in the Twilight books/movies! Cullen. But I have not asked why she picked Alexander. I have all the squares pinned together and trying to talk myself into sewing them but am avoiding it so far.

Kerry, I am feeling some better today, trying to make sure I keep my blood sugar even. This is all so new to me and takes some getting used to!

Oh Alice - I know it is. One would hope that overall you will feel better with things more under control. You have time - you don't need to sew today! Hope to see you one day next week! Sheila and I are planning another rendezvous.

Alice, the quilt looks really nice. Something hand made is so much better than something from a store. How hard is it to make? I think I am going to try my hand at quilting. My son has a light weight quilt that I keep repairing. He got it at Pennys and the material is really thin. Think I will cheat a little and use it as the base and make a quilt topper. Never have done it, so it is anybody's guess how it will turn out. There was a lady at craft class that made a quilt out of an old pair of jeans. She cut out cowboy shapes, horseshoes. pony with a fringed mane and such from a red bandana and applied them. It was so unique. I wish I was half as talented as some of these ladies.

It's very simple, Karen...which is why I chose it! She likes monkeys so I chose the fabric called Baby Safari from Walmart. There were 2 different patterned fabrics and then a plain baby blue I am using. I also found a plush fabric with the same pattern that I am going to make 2 small blankies for him. It is so soft! Yesterday I got the squares sewn together into strips and later today I plan to sew the strips together to finish the top. Here is the site I got the baby quilt pattern from http://www.craftandfabriclinks.com/ba... and my favorite quilting pattern site http://www.quilterscache.com/ I suggest looking for something simple with larger pieces to begin with. My daughter and I made a quilt for my sister's wedding...and it had various tiny pieces....made us crazy! LOL So we learned to not only look at the pattern but at the pieces too!

Even the "simple ones" look Greek to me. I do much better when someone shows me. Guess I will have to get Debbie to give me a lesson. She has all those cutting tools too.
