My Dad had a mylar blanket - one of those 'rescue' blankets that costs like $3 at Walmart - under the mattress in one of their trailers. I think he had it so that body heat would be radiated back up to them, through the mattress. So - you could in fact just 'sleep on it'!

Ruth is coming right along there Alice! You girls are doin a great job with her :) Won't be long now and y'all can hit the road! Enjoy her :)
