I really appreciated all the food websites. We don't start up the Pot Luck Dinners until after Thanksgiving, but I love them. One of the ladies just back from PA, brought me some homemade peach marmalade. Yummy. The other night I had a knock at my door one night and my friend Debbie brought me some dessert she and her husband had and thought of me. Sweet. I made a cake in the convection oven last week that was one of my Mother's from scratch cakes and shared it with the neighbors or I would have eaten the whole thing. It is called and "Orange Kiss Me Cake". Think she got the directions from someone she used to work with. I love to bake but don't do it very often because I am by myself. Now I can do it and share it so I don't feel guilty making it. Yesterday I went and helped my friend feed horses. She volunteers as a place where the do rehabilitation on horses. They sure did know when the grain was coming! I have taken neighbors on a few shopping excursions into Gainesville as I know that town really well having lived there 11 years. We went to lunch and to craft shops, Joann fabrics and the Fresh Market. We had a great time. Crafts have started up again and about 10-12 ladies show up. Some of us are making rag rugs. We all went to Goodwill and bought an old sheet. You tear it in strips about 1 1/2 inch wide, then crochet it with a very large hook. I am making a heart shaped rug ------I hope. I am also helping my neighbor to do her first swedish weave.

I just love wintering in this park. Life is good

Karen, I've started the same thing with my baking... although all the family (at least my generation) is watching what they eat..(except my brother the skinny so and so) so I half the recipe and then when its cool put it in baggies and go on a "goodie run". I've got three or four places I can share the wealth (calories) with. That way we all get some cookies and no one eats the whole batch!!!!!

Sounds like you found a great park. I need to try making things in my RV's convection oven. The few things I have tried have been just so-so. I don't know why I can't get along with it, my very first microwave was a convection and I cooked in it all the time.

I like the pot lucks at the rallies I have been to. So much good food. I want to try some of the crockpot recipes but my DH doesn't like that kind of food very much and I end up having to freeze most of it and eat it myself. I have a friend that works near here so sometimes I bring them things.

Have fun.

Martha

I agree, Karen.....Life is pretty wonderful!!

I like pot luck meals too.. It's neat to try out new foods and then  swap recipes.  It's something one doesn't get to do too often  if cooking for just one or two...So many recipes make big bunches of food that needs sharing...how fun you and your friends are sharing things you cooked---both with Potlucks and "door to door"..

"Girly runs" are a lot of fun, whether for feeding rehab horses, going to fabric and craft stores or whatever grabs your attention at the time. Surely y'all eat out too!??  We look forward to eating out on our Girly runs...

I remember crocheting rag rugs when I was about 12.  I made a couple of bedside rugs for mine and sister's room.  Those things last a LONG time. When we work-kamped in Wyoming...our motel  had a huge one the original owner's wife had made for the motel lobby.  It got many comments.  Was a lovely old antique.

I am so glad to hear your are so happy to be "home for the winter" in your park and you love wintering there!

Sue:  How nice you have begun bagging up and sharing your wealth of baking with family....sounds like a good plan!!   Y'all know I bake for Milt--- and cut into healthy sized pieces and freeze them..that's how I handle it.

Martha:   I wish I had a convection/microwave oven.   I do have a convection oven in the house.,.and for some reason...forget to use it on convection....I KNOW I'd use one in the trailer, as I hate cleaning an oven...and I've never used the trailer oven except as storage space.

If I want to fix something I know Milt doesn't like....I find a day when I have leftovers for him...and I cook whatever I want for me.  Works good!! It's great you have a neighbor to share with too...

Happy RVing!

Karen, it sounds like you're at an awesome place !

If any of you have left over baked goods you can send them my way !!!

I'm trying to get a new job, I've had my first interview and will have my second one on Monday - they seem very interesting in hiring me and I think I'd like the job. The second interview is more of a job visit, I'll shadow a current employee to see what the job actually entails and they'll get a chance to see what kind of worker I am. The job is Kennel Attendant at the vet/boarding facility/doggy day care that Molly and Murphy go to. It'd be hard work, but I think I'll like it. It's a real chance to help the dogs and cats enjoy their boarding and/or day care stay and I would be able to help the hospital animals too. I wouldn't do anything "medical" for the hospital patients, just clean, feed and exercise if applicable. I'm really not happy where I'm at, the work is OK but the people aren't. It's a very tense, unhappy work environment and I'd rather not work there. Guess I'll see what I think and what they think on Monday.

Hope everyone is having a great day !!

Trudy - you go girl! Look at you - you are making decisions - you knew you were unhappy and you have taken action! I think a lot of this strength has come from the journey you have taken.........and you are to be congratulated!

Good luck on the job "shadow interview", Trudy. You are so wise....if you don't like the work...find another place go go!!! You are out doing just that... Good decision..

I'll be keeping all fingers and toes crossed for you...

Take care,

Joella

Karen, tell me more about the Orange Kiss Me Cake... sounds delicious. We have potlucks here too and I am always looking for a dish to pass.

Trudy, Good luck with the new job interview, sounds like a perfect job for an animal lover.

I was wondering about that cake as well....

Good luck with the job interview...that sounds like a interesting way of interviewing should be able to tell if you are going to like it...

spent most of the day at a friends house working on Christmas projects for the granddaughters...had this idea for the 'girl's got a small box (plastic) and am indivualizing it for the girls to put their "pretties" into (their hair stuff daughters refer to them as their pretties) so putting names on them and other things to pretty them up!!! hope the girls will enjoy them then went doll class and worked on a figurine decided I'd made them for all brothers and sisters my mom and my husband some of dd's maybe all of them not sure if son got one or not but I didn't so making one for "me" almost sound selfish but oh well and saw my camel for my nativity set after it was glazed and fired looked really good have some finish up work on it but that is too be expected

we were suppose to have rain today but all it did was mist....that is ok with me!!

Sheila, that personalized "pretties box" sounds like a super good idea for a gift.  Your crafty afternoon with others is a neat way to do it... I used to do classes of various kinds that way..  Gets you visiting, laughing fun times with friends --- and besides if you were doing it alone, you just might not get to it.

Enjoy the day all....happy RVing!
