Snow !

Did anyone get caught up in the big snowstorm I've been reading about ??

I read that it's affected* Colorado, SoDakota, Nebraska and Utah! Sounds like it's a doozy and I'm glad it didn't get to Iowa !!! I read that the Denver area got 3 feet of snow - that's way too much !!!

Just wondering if anyone got stuck in the snow.

*on a side note - I never know if it's "affected" or "effected" - I'm sure there's some sort of way to know but I don't know how to know :D

None here in Escondido - but then, I wouldn't expect any! Gypsysuzy was expecting some in CO - we'll have to see what she says!

I think effect is the effect something has on something else - and affect is what something does to you. So - I would think this would be affected. But.................I could well be totally wrong! And I'm not even sure if I understand what I just wrote! LOL

Well, I haven't stuck my nose out the door for two days now. My son and his family live on the northeastern outskirts of Colorado Springs on the high plains. Yesterday it was snowing in the Springs but all we got was strong, cold winds. This morning we woke to blowing snow and it continued until late evening. It is hard to say just how much snow we really got because most of it is in drifts. The kids' driveway is blown shut, the interstates are closed as are most schools, churches, shopping, etc. The largest accumulations of snow were north and west of here - Denver and the mountains. It just seems like it is such a slow moving storm that it just continues dumping. They are predicting 50's by the weekend. Yeah!

This just reminds me why I lived in Phoenix for 15 years and now have spent the last 10 winters in deep south Texas. But I'm having fun with the kids. We've played games, watched movies, made caramel apples and DIL brewed up a big pot of chile for dinner.

Also makes me glad I left my Gypsywagon in Texas and took a plane. Dodging fall and winter storms would not be fun.

Haven't heard of it hitting UT but then I don't get the local stations so unless it was where I've been I wouldn't know. And where I been today didn't have snow...we had skif of it the other day but that was it...really glad we don't have any and really hope it holds off until we get to leave.

Glad all y'all are safe! Snow...is one of those bad four letter words for me. Coming from northern cold country in PA, I only want to see it on post cards from now on! I know it is truely beautiful, and solitude takes on a whole different meaning in a fresh fallen snow. But that's the extent of it. I already had my ceremonial snow shovel burning and willed my ice scraper to my brother. I'm done with it! Y'all enjoy it if you like. As for me, I'll be in Texas where I belong! ;)

Love,

Sharon

We are getting non-stop rain here. And wind. I have water in my basement and one of my sump pumps quit working. I called around and found one pump left at a store and I had them put it on hold for me so I can pick it up after work. Thank goodness I can install it myself. I have been thinking about the snow out west. Can you imagine the little trick or treaters trying to go door to door with all that snow? How disappointing for the kids! I hope this isn't a taste of what is to come for this winter. I do not want lots of snow. I don't mind the cold but the snow is NOT fun anymore.

Yikes on all that snow!!

My DD is a flight attendant and she is flying into Denver this week and so far she's not had any delays on her flights, but some others have been delayed up to 2 hrs. Denver airport reportedly got 18" of the stuff.

Stay safe anyone having to deal with the white stuff!

My son had to drive in it from Denver to Grand Junction. He drives a truck. He finally made it back home.

Patty and Sammie, too.

Got a little less than 2 feet at my place in Colorado. I'm glad temps are going to be in the 60's this week so the snow will soon be gone!

Got stuck in Tucumari, NM for one night 'cause it was snowing in the pass, made it into Albuquerque the next day about 1PM. I needed propane and the guy wouldn't be back until 2 to pump it, so I just pulled into my space and waited. Sure enough at 2 it started snowing....hard! Had to move Hope over to the tank in cold wet blowing snow. Yuck! Stopped about 2:45 but accumulated about 1/2 inch on my steps and top of the car. By 3:30 or so all signs of snow were gone. I grew up in Alb and I don't ever remember it snowing this early. It was so cold going out the I-40 the next day (Friday) and lots of snow on the ground around Grants and Gallup. I'm in Ehrenberg now, supposed to be 85 today and I'm lovin' it!! Back to my beloved desert! Should be home on Tuesday. I was driving thru Tn a few weeks ago in torrential rain thinking, well, at least it's not snow....guess I brought it on myself!! LOL!

Kerry, how long are you gonna be in Escondido? Maybe we can do a mini GTG with Evie and Donna. Donna lives in Escondido and Evie and I are about 60 miles away.
