Thanks for all the kudos! And the tip on the water filter placement. I'll try that next time.

I think Little Missy's thermostat is sticking as when I turned the furnace on it started heating up no matter where I had the temp set to, and continued to run/heat until it was almost too hot inside. Then I had to shut it off again. That got old during the night. I took the cover off but only saw some sawdust in the bottom corner away from all the workings. My neighbor, David, that went with me when I went to see Little Missy before I bought her, said he'd check it for me.

Lenora, I don't know what kind of thermostat you have, but if it's the kind that has an adjustable "slide" you might consider buying one that is digital. Hunter makes them, and you can get them at Wal Mart for less than $30. They're much more accurate and helpful if you're trying to be conservative with your propane. And they're easy to install -- real easy! If your handy SIL is around he can do it in probably 30 minutes. Heck, you could even do it! ;)

Woo hoo girl - you did it! So proud of you - but then, we knew you could! I'm sorry I've been so lame about posting our pix - they are still in my camera! I suspect tonight or tomorrow I might actually take care of some of that housekeeping. I'm in Vacaville today - had my first big drive - 415 miles - yesterday - and we made it! I wish I'd known about that park - maybe next summer we can go there together! It looks lovely!

That's what has always happened with my RV furnaces. They will run until you are roasting and then they will blow cold air for a while before they shut off. Our house came with a cheap sliding thermostat and we had it changed to a digital. The digital works much better.

I have never tried the one in my current motorhome because I have never had it checked. Mud daubbers and wasps can get in the exhaust and build nests so will probably never use it because a sofa would have to be removed to get to the furnace.

Sounds like you had a great time Lenora! Glad the furbaby is adjusting to the rig. My suggestion for the furnace is get a small ceramic space heater. That's what we always use...why use our propane when we can heat it with electric on the campgrounds dime. Same reason I love the electric hot water heater we have in this rig. Yes...I know...I'm the Queen of Cheap.

Lenora,

Sounds like you had a great first adventure. Your pictures were great and we loved the story that went with them. I have never seen a Yurt. That was very cool. I remembered all my firsts as I read your post, and believe it or not they will be the past in short time. I used to think like everyone else and use campground electric, but my porpane heater does a much better job heating my unit, so when really cold I use it.

I have read other posts where they use the ceramic heaters quite a bit, but that would be one more thing to try finding a place for in my small rig.

As for a digital thermostat, I did put one in my home but the one for the rig also has the extras like on/off for the AC/furnace, Hi/Lo fan and one or two other switches included. I think I'll leave that to a professional. The hot water heater switch was put in upside down so I hope that's not an indicator of what's to come! lol

Kerry! There you are! Wave at my DIL and GD while you are there in Vacaville. Glad you arrived safely. Wow, that was quite a drive! I just bought a book yesterday about all the campgrounds in the NW so I'll start close and span out as I get more courageous. I look forward to camping with you!
