We are staying in WA very close to the Canadian border, so yesterday, we ventured forth to the Vancouver Aquarium. It took about 20 minutes to pass through customs.

Isn't their flag pretty in flowers

One of the first things I had to get used to was the metric system. This is my speed sign

The Vancouver Aquarium is located in Stanley Park. It is beautifully landscaped with parking all around. They have an outside area that contains dolphins. These are Pacific white-bellied dolphins. Never seen these before.

beluga whale (this one just had a baby) The baby is more gray. It only feeds for about 20 seconds before it must surface for air.

I love sea otters. They are so playful and cute

The indoor areas have some fantastic displays. There is a Tropical area that has birds and butterflies. We never did see the 2 toed sloth.

One of many butterflies

I think this guy is really cool looking

Always thought these were just called jellyfish, but they are sea nettles!

I think everyone needs some flowers in their life each day, so these are for you

and this one too

Hope you all enjoyed coming along to British Columbia with me, until next time

Karen - Thank you so much for sharing your great photos! You sure are making "tracks"!! What fun.

Vancouver, BC is probably my fav city. Of course, I haven't been there for many years but it was so clean and beautiful. Enjoy your travels. Where to next?

I will start to make my way back home (by way of Mt. Rushmore) after I bring my cousin Janice to the airport in Seattle. I am not looking forward to Homestake Pass near Butte MT, but will get through that too. I made it down Deadmans Pass, so I guess I will make it down the next biggy. Hope all tornadoes are done and overwith when I go thru the midwest and hurricanes do not await me in FL. I have been very lucky this trip with clear skies almost the whole trip. It is a little rainy in NW Wa. but that's OK. I won't melt.

Karen - Enjoy your visit to Mt. Rushmore - it's pretty neat. You might want to visit Crazy Horse too while you are in that area. When I went to S. Dakota, it was in early October and we had beautiful weather except the day we were flying out - it rained.

Great travels!!

Thanks Karen for the post.. As usual your photos are outstanding. I like Aquariums... so really enjoyed the photos of the sea creatures, both large and small.. Love flowers too, enjoyed those and thanks for mine!!

We loved the Black Hills. We enjoyed seeing Crazy Horse Memorial. We stayed in the Heritage Village Campground near Custer S.D., and Crazy Horse was our 'back yard view".... It is lit up all night long and was quite impressive.

The complex houses a family restaurant which has one of the largest buffets in western South Dakota.

We stayed there a month and made it our base to tour all around S.D. Neat stay!

Thanks again for all the wondrous photos... I love traveling with ya!

Happy and safe travels for you!

Thanks Joella, that looks like a winner to me. When did you go there. The last review is from 2008 and complains that the Verizon Air card did not work well. I can live without it for the great location. I am thinking it will take me between 4-5 days to get there from here. Maybe less. I may drive longer each day going back then I did on the way here. I am thinking of doing the Rest stop/Walmart/Flying J route until I get to SD

It has been six or seven years since we were there, Karen. We were there in August, and that many years ago wifi was not prevalent in RV parks. They did have a phone you could use to dial up your Internet. I liked the area and could take many day trips from there. We saw Mount Rushmore, the Black Hills, Wind Cave National Park, Sturgis to check out the biggest bike rally ever..

Have a good trip... I can see you'd have your ears laid back for the barn.....and can understand Flying J; Walmart and Rest area overnighters.. I like the "stores" better than the rest area...as they have food ready made.... can eat and tuck it in for the night ---ready-ing for an early start the next morning.

Happy Traveling!

Joella

Karen, I'm glad you got up into Canada. I, too, love aquariums. Zoos, too. Very nice pictures!

I really enjoy So Dak. but it's been about 5 yrs since I've been there. I look forward to seeing your pictures of Crazy Horse as they showed on the news last week that they did some blasting on it.

Did you get my PM? I'm still having a bit of trouble with it. I PMd you back but just now it showed I had a PM and it was the one I sent you a couple days ago! It said I was sorry we couldn't meet up this trip and hope you have fun in the Seattle area. I bowl on Tuesdays, so I needed to be here that day.

Safe travels!

Lenore, I did get your PM and thought I replied. I am sorry we didn't get to meet this time too. Guess you will just have to come to Florida this winter. I will get pictures when I am in SD and post. Thanks for the tips.
