I had a glorious weekend away, up the coast at Pt. Mugu State Park. It's a little strip campground just south of Oxnard, and sits right on the sand. While it might not be pretty looking toward the east, it sure is looking the other way:
One of the highlights of the weekend was the twice-daily dolphin show. They would travel south in the early morning, when the water was calm, and then head north around dinnertime. It's hard to capture them as they go flying out of the air, but here's one of them as they head down to find more dinner:
My friend, Marianne, came up for part of the weekend. She's working hard to stay warm in this picture, as it got cooler than she likes at nighttime. Usually she brings a fleece hat & sleeps in it, but since she forgot it she had to get creative:
Jed thoroughly enjoyed himself, too. He had many new sights and smells to investigate. But when we came in, he immediately headed for his favorite napping place -- my bed!
I had a wonderful time. It was the perfect weekend, and a most welcome respite as I head into the last 4 weeks of school -- a sprint until June 19. I can hardly wait until I can go whenever and wherever I want!
