I am watching the Travel channel and they are scanning the beaches for sea glass. Looks to be tons of it in the San Francisco area. My questions is; can sea glass be tumbled in a rock tumbler? Just curious... Lenora & Choco "Sometimes I wonder. How did I get to be so old? Then I remember, Oh yeah, by the Grace of God."

Sometimes, the only right answer is silence...which in and of itself speaks a thousand words.

Lenora, give sis and I a couple of months and we will tell you. We got snagged by the beach glass bug in Kauai. Sis has a tumbler so we are in the process of finding colored class and are going to give it a go.
I saw that show too. Wouldn't it of been fun to be in the surf with that last guy~ that's how we found some of our shells, we would stand in the surf, see the shell roll by and then the chase was on!!! Lots of whooping and hollering. Paradise has far more to do with the person than the place... it's also were Jesse Stone lives ;-)

I would have loved to see that show - I bet it was great !! I've read that glass can be tumbled - I don't know if the process would be different but I guess you just have to give it a try ! Interesting thread, Lenora. Rock tumblers always interested me, and I don't know why I never carried through on getting one.
I'll be watching for your experiments end, Sue. Enjoy the project.
Oh Sue! Speaking of Jesse Stone,(your siggy) I saw on the Internet his last show aced out all else and he was the top watched show of the night! :)
Nice article on tumblers, Trudy. Wouldn't some glass jewelry be magnificent? In dealing with glass in our construction business, I'm thinking one would have to drill holes in the glass with a diamond bit drill-- but just guessing.
I'll be looking forward to this subject's follow-up with anticipation!!
Happy RVing All!

Speaking of Jesse Stone... The newest show "on Thin Ice" was at 9 o'clock at night...on CBS. Well, I don't get CBS on my satellite anymore so I set the timer on my my sisters VCR! Slid one of her tapes in and we had dinner at her house the next day to watch the movie. FOR SOME REASON (who knows) there was about 5 minutes of tape already run on this supposedly new tape. I thought 2 hour movie, two hour tape all is good! We missed the last few minutes of the movie. We were there long enough to find out that happened to the little boy, and the bad guy was going to jail so it wasn't a complete waste of time!! That has to be the perfect role for an aging Tom Selleck! Paradise has far more to do with the person than the place... it's also were Jesse Stone lives ;-)

I have a rock tumbler that I bought after I did some gem mining in North Carolina. The tumbler is so noisy and has to run for hours. We ended up putting it in my husband's backyard workshop. It's one of those things that I wonder if I want to take with me when we go full-time. After reading how easy it is to tumble glass, I think I will definitely take it along. I'll have to pick the right spot to run the tumbler though - not a campground, but maybe a Flying J, ha ha.
Does anyone know anything about emeralds? I found a lot of tiny emeralds, but also got a 900 karat emerald. I was told it would end up being 300 karats of emeralds. I've still got it - don't really know what I should do with it. Maybe those 300 karats of emeralds would end up being tiny, tiny emeralds. Margie www.rv-adventure.blogspot.com

Well Sue, I missed the ending too---- and I was sitting right there, staring at the TV. Reason being, there was NO ending. Jesse Stone is leaving town, riding into the sunset on a bus.
We were left hanging at the end. Did Jesse lose his job and go back to from whence he came on the bus, or did he merely take a hiatus to New Mexico while waiting for the City Council to decide the fate of his job - to see the mother of the dead kidnapped child and inform her of what ultimately happened to him? With no idea of when or if there will be a series 2, will CBS keep us better informed about the future of Jesse Stone in 2009 - 2010?
You know with the show being such a hit that night... there will be more Stone movies!!!
Happy RVing!
Joella

There are five books out, six actually but I am waiting for it to come out in paperback. Should be a lot more movies...better be a lot more movies...mumble,muble..... Thin Ice wasn't one of the books though so not sure what they are doing. Thanks for the last 5 minutes. What the heck is he taking a bus for? He drove to Paradise from LA... oh well, guess we'll wait for the next one! Paradise has far more to do with the person than the place... it's also were Jesse Stone lives ;-)
