Don't know how long the company I work for will hold out with no work - we're off now 1 day a week and 20% salary cut. Paying off the TT and truck is my biggest concern - I do have a DH who says for me not to worry - but come on, I'm a female and that's what I do. Anywho, I'm thinking of how to reinvent myself at 61 years old and do some odd jobs to make up the $$ should a layoff be in the future - I was at a campground last week that had alot of crafts for sale - made by Camper ladies for extra $$ - I'll try that perhaps, or dog walking or sitting, etc. Any ideas? :( Leslie "Happy Trails to You..."

I feel your pain; my DH has been laid off for over a year and the bank I work for is starting to lay off also. We are doing some sales at the area Jockey Lot but that not a lot of money. We are going to put the house back on the market shortly and pray a lot!! I'm almost 60!

You laugh now but we may have to do that to survive! I have a little gardening experience also. We can form a "Wagon Train" and boondock and sell stuff at the flea markets. Anyone else want to join us? Remember Ward Bond from the old Wagon train show?

That's a huge bummer !!! It just stinks when we work "forever" with a plan to retire and "they" interupt that plan with layoffs and salary cuts. It is posible to cut back on expenses, it just takes some time to get used to having less money. I'm still not real good at it and when my income is cut in half it's going to be tough to make ends meet. I don't know what the answer is other then to not give up and keep trying !!! It's gotta get better - doesn't it ??? Trudy, Molly & Murphy 37' Montana 5th wheel - "be the kind of person your dog thinks you are"

Leslie, it had gotta be horrible to be waiting for the axe to fall. Most gurus are saying to start living now like you have already lost your job and put that money AWAY!!! Us Americans aren't used to making do anymore. This will be a bit of a learning curve! Paradise has far more to do with the person than the place

I was with my financial advisor again today. I'm having to sell some of my investments within my portfolio and purchase others that are more promising, and/or stable. My hope is that I'm now buying when things are low and in a couple years they will rebound. This whole economy isn't the normal kind of recession that we've experienced in the past, though. So it's all a crap shoot. Scary times. I have to wait until August before I can change the amount I draw off every month to live off of. Then I will be getting only a few hundred over my budget. So between now and then I have to squirrel away everything I can to have a padding to get me through. My dream of an RV gets further and further away, but I have a roof over my head and nothing I'm in need of so I count my blessings. Lenora & Choco "Sometimes I wonder. How did I get to be so old? Hi Leslie,
I hate to hear of your dilemna.... There are rumblings in the company I work for about packages and forced retirements.... My best wishes to you. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions. Is Workamping a viable option? Kay, Gloria (the cockapoo), Cammie Sue (the elderly cat), Duchess (the diabetic pooch), and Froggy (self-explanatory)
