Hello Everyone. Am new to the forum. Have been a lurker for awhile and decided to register and post. Don't like being a lurker. We retired a year ago and have been fulltiming. We spend 6 months of the year in La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico and the other 6 months rolling around the U.S. This year after we returned to the U.S. we spent time around Tucson, Tubac, Yuma, and Phoenix. We're now in Goldendale, Washington in the Columbia Gorge. An absolutely beautiful spot.
Our 2 cats (Top Cat and Loki) allow us to travel with them only because we drive and they can't. They've taken over the 5er and reign supreme.
We'll be headed to Las Vegas in Sept. to spend a couple of weeks with our families and especially our 2 grandchildren. Then we're off to Yuma for shots and checkups and then to Mexico. I can't wait to get to the beach and eat some seafood.
Thanks for allowing me to post with all of you ladies. Right now I'm dealing with boredom but it's ok. I promised myself that I'd be still for 2 months and paint.TextText Linda

Hi Linda, Welcome to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Don'tcha just love this weather we are having! Suppose to rain in a couple days and then the forecast for this weekend is great. We are NorthEast of you in Monroe. I'll be following after you to get to Yuma the month of October, just bought a lot there in the foothills...where will you be heading there? I'll head to Mexico in Feb to Guanajuato. Trip starts Feb 7th-20th. I too LOVE Mexico. After that I'll work my way over to Tucson for the Life On Wheels conference Mar 11th for a few days and then back to Yuma till the end of April. Maybe we'll get a chance to catch up with each other. Seeya Gal, this is too funny, we'll be following each other around for the next 8 months or so. Yes, we'll have to try and meet. We'll be leaving for La Penita (40 miles north of Puerta Vallerta) around Oct. 15th if my medical appts. go as planned. We'll return from Mex. in April. Guanajuato is one of the places that we plan on visiting. We might be able to meet there. I have two knees that aren't cooperating and am going to have them injected with Synvisc this month. We looked at lots in the foothills but for some reason we didn't care for Yuma. It may be because we were held captive there by my doctors in the hottest weather imaginable. One day it was 115 degrees. We were miserable even though we had the pool. It was too hot to golf. We're going to investigate Tucson and a few other areas in that vicinity for either a condo or townhouse. Also want to go to Show Low and look around. I'll settle for a park model in a beautiful area. I don't care about the sq. footage anymore. Let's make sure we stay in touch. Sometimes we don't have wifi available. We do have jungle wifi and jungle cable in Mex. Linda

Jomilt, We stay at a RV Resort in the jungle on volcanic terraces that look out over the beach and ocean. When I say jungle, I mean big jungle. 2 couples that spend the winter there set up wifi and the cable for television. They keep everythiing in storage in town and with the help of some locals they get it all set up in about 2 weeks. This is what they did before they retired and after years of perfecting the equipment and adapting it to Mexico they can connect all 120 sites to wifi and cable. Sometimes wifi is slow and we only get 7 tv stations but it's better than nothing at all. The wifi boosters are hung high up on the sides of the palm trees and then they hang bright blue plastic buckets over them to keep the iguanas, lizards and birds away from the boosters. It's kind of odd to look around the resort at the pristine jungle and see bright blue buckets hanging from the side of every 10th palm tree. I hate it when the iguanas eat my booster! That's the short version of high tech jungle wifi and cable. It's about 75% Canadian and 25% U.S. so we have Vancouver, BC, Seattle, Detroit, and Mexican TV stations. During Christmas, New Years, and Easter the resort fills to about 220 North Americans in their RVs and 1,000 Mexicans who love to tent. They string electrical wiring from their tents to our electricity lines. You have to be very careful where you walk so that you don't singe yourselves or possibly blow out electricity to part of the park. It's crazy and wonderful at the same time. Music, food, and children everywhere. We love spending the holidays with the Mexican community and our friends that we spend the winter with. Lindy

What a wonderful experience!! I'm glad I asked!! That is very interesting!!!
I love Mexico and her people..they are the most charming, helpful people.. Very "family"...they have a lot of reverence for their old people. They are a hard working, happy people as well. We have always been welcomed and treated well by the locals when we traveled Mexico.
I'll be looking forward to more of your interesting postings..

Linda, I'll be with the Chapter #8 group to Guanajuato. We catch up with the group in Mercedes TX Feb 7th and go down to Saltillo first for 2 nights and then to Zacatecas 2 nights and the rest in Guanajuato. We'll most likely come back out going up the West coast of Mexico because we fell in love with San Carlos and the El Mirador campground. We'll probably see you along the route or in Yuma sometime. Will you be staying at the La Penita trailer park? We see it is BIg Rig friendly in Mike & Terri Church's Mexican travel book. Aaaah shrimp tacos! Probably only Linda, Joella & I know how BIG the Prawns are in Mexico...their HUGE!!
We found out the hard way that the exit sign to leave Yuma is at the end of April and not to stay longer....hot...hot...hot! My next door neighbors stay there all year but said chores and errands are done early in the morning or lots later in the evening because it is too hot in the daytime.
Alot of the people in Yuma are Snowbirds so they are only there from Nov-Apr. We have two full hookups on our lot. Mar & Apr were nice weather. We can have a park model on ours or a mobile home. Right now we are scratching our heads how to landscape it for Winter use only. Our lot is 66 X 112 ft. Much bigger than the SKP park lots. Oh Linda I just have to find this place in Mexico that you go to! Tell me more! Seeya down the road, Jenny & Dan FT in 40 ft Alfa Seeya tow/w a Jeep Cherokee

Hi Lindy, gosh your travels sound wonderful, hope you keep sharing with all of us gals, I love travel stories as everyone keeps moving on and sharing. Wish there were more pictures though....so we can see where you are all at. Good luck on the knee injections, I have a friend that is opting for that and we are hoping she doesn't have to have another knee replacement. Jenny you will have to take more pictures and so we can see. I would be shocked if you and Lindy don't connect, you all have so much in common. Even the cats!! By the way I love cats to Lindy, I have four and I am wondering when we finally get to hit the road how they are going to act! Jenny's cats sure seem adapted to their lifestyle. I have to admire you all's courage for driving into Mexico and heading down their roadways. I've always heard so many horror stories....I don't know if I am brave enough for that one. Maybe if I drove in a large group? Are there monkeys running around where you stay there Lindy? That would be a kick and big parrots? I stayed down in San Blas for a few weeks years ago, and that was my first experience with all of that. And I agree the folks were really sweet to us Jenny. Not sure about the bus ride from Matzalan, with the chickens and pigs, jungle windy curved roads, with grave markers everywhere and a bus driver that kept passing everyone on blind curves singing away....that about did me in. Thought for sure I was going to end up in an unmarked spot! Smile Well Welcome Lindy from one NEWBIE to another.... Cillie Happiness is living your best dreams and God answering your prayers!!!
