Hi all, I did not get to get on this site while traveling, because my wifi time went for the work that I do online. I thought about you all out there too, though. I name my 19 foot RV Big Boy after realizing that his ego might have a problem when he was parked in between all of those Big Class As. He (yes he is a he) performed beautifully after getting new industrial shocks and front brakes. There were definitely learning experiences. I did not mind paying for repair because I watched everything and I learned. There was not much, but a few things. Now, I am looking for a slightly bigger unit because the cat takes up too much space. She was very scared at first in a campground. But, over the 7 weeks, she because a seasoned camper and has started to figure out how the leash works, or doesn't :-). I am so glad that I left my home for this time and got a new perspective after losing my husband a year and a half ago. It is never going to be 'good.' But, it helped me to see the world a little big differently. My RV is now very much a part of me and the little things are making it mine. Thanks for listening, Margaret Margaret

Good for you! And it does get better. I've been on my own now for 4 years, and while it's not the life I had with him, it's a life and a good one. My analogy is, it's like two horses pulling a big plow. Suddenly one horse is no longer there and that plow is way to heavy for one horse to pull alone. But you make it to the end of the furrow. You get into a new field with a lighter plow, and you go on. 1984 Class A Allegro(Miss Piggy) Bogie the Pit (rescued) ....and this too shall pass.

Morning Margaret!! Good to hear from you, and that all is well! I understand your wi-fi time going to working on-line!
Love your sense of humor and your understanding of Big Boy's ego and christening him with a new name to enable him to feel better about himself!! Those who do... manage their work and duties better, so you've done both of you a favor by boosting Big Boy's status!! :-)
Good too your cat, Okee is adapting to her new lifestyle and I hope, even beginning to enjoy herself...I know how our cats/dogs "stretch out" and begin to take over available room!!
I'm glad too that you are feeling good about your decision to get into RVing, and build a new, productive and happy life for yourself... The day may come when it's even "good"....A different kind of good, but nonetheless... better. I hope this for you.. I think with your attitude it can only get better.. yes, you will always miss your DH... but you are headed into the right direction to make a new niche for yourself on the roadway of life... I must say I am impressed and happy for you!!
Did you travel to IN as you had earlier planned, or venture off somewhere else? Was this the six weeks long trip you had been dreaming about and doing some "armchair traveling" to plan? Be sure and tell us about your trip!!
Sparkle, love your analogy!! You have a way with words..
Happy Travelin' All!! :-)

Congratulations Margaret. I remember my first trip very well. Found just laughing at myself when I made the blunders (and we all do, men too) and keep right on moving.
I definitely know what you mean by the "big boy" next to those size A's. You feel so tiny...but I throw my shoulders back, notice my little rig does too and we both smile and enjoy. Haven't named my rig yet guess that is something I need to do.
After last year's start, I am back out here enjoying it again this year. Heading to a rally in Elkhart Indiana where my rig was made. I see a lot more this size here than anywhere else I have been. So I feel right at home.
Have a great time, keep on letting us know as you travel, maybe we will meet on the road. Nan

Margaret - how wonderful to hear about your trip. My time here is limited also because I have to work online to pay to be on the road all the time :)
I love the "Big Boy" - My rig is 22 feet. Last week I went to a singles rv rally. We were parked, for the most part, in the old wagon train style - so we could all meet and "play" in the center. My rig (at 22') was followed by a class A at 32' which was followed by a class A at 42'. I looked at them and said "We have Daddy Bear, Mommy Bear and Baby Bear - any one question who is who?"
I'm only 5' tall and have always been given every short nickname you can imagine - now I'm Baby Bear also LOL
Glad you are moving forward - and life is continuing. Not the way you planned it, but it's still good - just not the same good. Smiling is contagious - try it!

Sparkle, I love your analogy. I need to find a smaller plow. I knew this. But, it became real on the road. I really did not want to move until I stop working in 3 years. But, I am rethinking a lot. I will have to downsize and am pondering how to do that. Thanks for telling me it gets better. It is going on two years and it is still empty. But, life does go on and we have to do what we have to do. Margaret Margaret

Joella, I went to Mayo Clinic for help with a health problem. I absolutely love Rochester, MN. I stayed there for 3 weeks. My meds were changed and traveling was not a good idea. Then I went around Chicago (rough road !) and went to South Bend for a week. I loved Notre Dame and the Basilica. I also wandered around the camping places in the area. The campground there was great. Then I went to IN for business in Bloomington. The weather turned nasty and then HOT! I had to hire a cat sitter to check on her in the RV in the parking lot on the Indiana campus while I was in meetings. He read that putting an ice bag under their bed might help. I was amazed to find out that she warmed up to him. She survived -- as did I with all the meetings. It was actually productive. Then I went to Frankfort, KY -- interesting city. The cat got sick on the twisted roads and hills and had to visit the vet. But, she was fine. I stayed there and they were impressed with how well the cat fitted in and did not tear up their furniture. I told him that I took her in as a delinquent and had to work hard to get her to be civil. :-) Then my tooth got worse and I called my dentist. I had to rush home. It was draining to do 290 to 300 miles/day in this heat to get here. Then, it would rain and I would have mud everywhere. One of the great things that I felt on the trip was taking in God's great creation as I traveled US highways and no interstates. Sometimes, it was just Big Boy on the road and beautiful scenery to take in. It was food for the soul. I saw so many small towns and got a feel that this country is in a lot better shape than what tv shows.

Nan, I like the Elkhart area. I stayed in South BEnd at the best campground I found. You can walk two blocks to a big shopping area and McDs. I stayed there for a week. Great for you to get out. But, you must name your rig -- his or her feelings are at stake :-). I am thinking of going back out until the college starts 8/16. But, I have a lot to take care of and dental surgery to do on the 21st. I can better prepare my food at home right now. So, I am really torn. Also, it is REALLY hot! I am in South FL. Let me know how Elkhart goes. I expect to go back up there next summer. Margaret Margaret

Bethers, What kind of RV do you have? I am looking for a slightly bigger one. I love the small one to drive. I can go and park anywhere. But, the cat takes up a lot of room :-). I want a central vac, a bigger frig and a bath where I can shower without using the aisle. It works fine, but I have no solution for the wet shower curtain. Anyone can jump in here with their fix for a wet shower curtain. I wrap it around after letting the AC blow on it for a while and put it in a pail in the bath which does not have a drain. Margaret

Marga will keep you posted on the RV rally in Elkhart. Have talked to the coordinator there several times, after my good experience in Daytona at the rally there, really excited about this one.
Not planning to take any of their tours, been most of the places they have planned.
My little 23 foot Forrest River Lexington has a full shower. The newer ones actually have 3 slide outs, and are really super. You might want to go to their web site and take a look. Specifically mine is a Forrest River Lexington. I like them because they are small but have everything in them....good gas mileage too. Nan
