Camplafalot - Sounds like you happened on to a great place! I would love to know directions. I went to Franklin while staying in NC in April - really pretty area with a lot to see around there. Stayed in Peaceful Valley campground(passport club) near Murphy and it was a short drive to Franklin. I walked all over Helen and it is definitely worthwhile seeing as others have said - a great little town with real friendly people. I may just be coming through there sometime in Oct so will keep in touch just in case I can meet up with some of you that will be there too. Enjoy your vegetable garden too. Sounds really wonderful :) Marysdream Its all good!!!!!

The campground we are in now is River Bend RV Resort and Campground in Franklin, NC. It is a simple and VERY NICE, small place on Route 64 going east out of Franklin towards Highlands, NC. They DO take people at a daily rate of $20 and a monthly rate of $355. All sites back onto the Cullasaja River and it's fun to watch the trout fishemen and people tubing down the river. Their phone number is 828-524-7846. Camp hosts are Corinne and Gary, full-timers originally from Minnesota, who winter in Texas. Note: This is not a great campground for kids as there really isn't much for them to do, and the swift river isn't really a place for them to play safely. However, kids are allowed.
Deerfield, the small RV park we are moving to in a couple of days, is about 1/2 mile further down the same road (SUCH a LOOOONG day of travel ahead - lol) and is seasonal only. They pro-rated this first year for us. It is adults only, but grandchildren may visit with good adult supervision. HOWEVER, visitors are welcomed and we sure would love to have you all drop by and see us if you're nearby!!!! (We are paid there until November 15th, but will probably start camping our way to Florida about the 1st of October.) The owners have a FABULOUS wildlife museum just across the road which is definitely worth seeing and it is FREE, too!
Helen is a terrific town! We visited there when we camped at Vogel State Park (super nice park) a couple of years ago.
I'm getting sooooo excited about my new home... We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!
