YAAAAAY!! We've found our summer home! Right down the street from the campground we are in now.....
As you know, we've been looking for a nice seasonal site in the NC mountains, and we've looked at a gazillion parks. Mrs. Fussy here just couldn't find one with the right ambience, y'know. We've been SPOILED by all those gorgeous Corps of Engineers parks we've stayed in, as well as our lovely winter campground.
For the last month we have been parked at River Bend Campground in Franklin, NC. It is a very pleasant small park, but the sites are sooooo close together. Not as close as a lot of other parks we've looked at, but just too close for our taste. And it is pretty sunny, so the AC needs to run on a lot of days and I hate the AC......
Well, we just picked up a seasonal site at Deerfield RV Park, about a mile down the road! They only have 14 sites, all seasonal. Shady and on the river. Coooool........
The park is owned by the most fascinating couple I have ever met. They have a HUGE taxidermy museum across the road from the park and are specatacularly successful outfitters and adventure guides....all over the world. Their website for this is www.wildernesstaxidermy.com. The RV park is just a quiet sideline using land they own in an environmentally friendly way.
There is even a communal garden! I can have my own veggies!
We'll be moving this coming Thursday and I can hardly wait!
Now there is a downside.....no WiFi......so I'll have to keep ya posted via Barbzeee.
Latah! We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!

Oh MaryEllen, this is SO exciting. I'm so glad you found just what you're looking for.
BUT, we can't do without you in the forum - so you may need to look into one of the cell cards! Just teasing (well, maybe not).
Really, I'm very happy for you and glad you not only found it, but are able to move there for the rest of the season! Smiling is contagious - try it!

MaryEllen, That is great! I wanted to go to Franklin a couple of years ago, but, didn't get there. The pictures of the area just looked like a nice place to be. How did you find the new park? We are looking for a summer place too. We want to go to a place and stay from Spring until late Fall. We are currently in the Rockies. Want to look around here but waiting for the rain to stop. Where do you go for the Winter? . . . . . . . . . *´¨) ¸.· ¸.·*´¨;) ¸.·¨) (¸.·´ (¸.·'Karon

You'll have to find the local library so you can continue to connect with us. Sounds like a great campground, though. See you down the road, Liz and Roe (dog) '99 Roadtrek 170 "Life in the presence of God is a life to be enjoyed every moment of every day."

Karon....the new park isn't listed anywhere and they don't have a website.....just word of mouth. And we drove in to check it out when we saw their small sign on Hwy 64. It is just exquisite. They only do seasonal rentals because they are often traveling and don't want to be bothered with in/out stuff. Their season is April 15-November 15 and the charge is $1795 plus electricity. (No cable, no WiFi) They prorated this first season for us. Lovely shady landscaping, paved interior road, a nice pavilion, 3 "river decks" and the Cullasja River (full of trout!). They must have confirmation of intent to return, and the fee, by March 15th. Unless we turn out not to love it for some reason, we plan to go back next summer.
In winter, we are at Rock Crusher Canyon RV Park in Crystal River, FL, on the west coast about 70 miles north of Tampa. We have spent 3 winters there and just love it. $495 mo. $1495 for 3 months. $2400 for 12 months (which we are doin this winter). VERY nice park with large sites (398) and nice amenities.
In between the two is GEORGIA! My favorite state to travel in! We drive all the US routes rather than the Interstates, and they are BEAUTIFUL and NO TRUCKS! In face, we joke about the total lack of traffic on them. The Georgia State Parks are topnotch as are the Corps of Engineers parks. LOOOOOVE Georgia!

As you can see none of us wish to give you up and want to see you continue to post on here!!
Will you not have a land-line phone for all those months? Could do a dial-up for not much money monthly.. I assume park does NOT have a modem dialup?
Guess Liz has it pegged right..and the library may just be it!!
Sounds like a MARVELOUS place!!!
You like Georgia...been to Helen? We are headed there for the Octoberfest in October and hopefully, tho it's a little early hope to see some Fall Colors..
ENJOY your new home!! :) Joella

Mary Ellen...
Sounds great!! When we sold our home and moved into the RV, we had to find a place to "park" in the Seattle area. We moved into a mom & pop place in Lynnwood. The guy that had the rig next to us (he was in his 60's) told us that he only puts clothes on to go outside. Hmmmm..... Then when he DID go outside, all he wore was a woman's mini skirt. Double hmmmmm.... The campground called him "Skirts."
Needless to say, I NEVER opened my blinds on Skirts side of the rig!!
So count your blessings!! You have a wonderful site!! Carol Kay "Every day is a winding road..."

I just looked up Franklen on Mapquest. Acutally, there are two but I ruled out the one near Sailsbury. Gee---you are only an hour and a half from Helen, Ga. I was there for a few days and sure want to go back---especially to Hansel and Gretels Candy Kitchen!! LOL I bought my pet possum, Pokie, in Helen (stuffed animal--not road-kill) and also some cans of canned possum!!! I want to go tubing down the river in Helen and then go out and eat!! Yum!!! Sounds like a great area you are in!! Groovin Grannie Fernie and Running Bear (Winnebago Warrior)
