We've called a carpet cleaning service to do the rugs in the MH. We want the ceiling cleaned also. He remarked that he's never done that before. Here's my question - Wouldn't you clean that the same as some upholstery? going to travel CJ

Morning Carole!
You are right..the "carpet looking ceilings" can be cleaned just like upholstery.
We had a major leak in our motorhome ceiling.. caused by a faulty antennae installation. Water was pouring in, not just leaking!! The ceiling was badly stained.
We were out of state, called the dealer back in Texas, and he said have it all repaired, and they'd cover the cost. The man who repaired our roof recommended a company that cleans up after fire and water damage. We took the mh by there, and for $25 they cleaned the ceiling carpet. It completely removed the water stains. They did it with a machine with a hose attachment. They also did "house calls", but were booked up and since we were in motorhome, if we brought it by near closing time, they'd do ours in the parking lot and fit us in. Can't beat that service, nor the price!!
You might check out a company like that, as they did a super fine job for us! And if you don't have one of those, I'd call other carpet cleaning companies that may have a little bit more knowledge and expertise!! Grin.. After all, we want the very best for our dollar!
Have a great day, Carole!! :) Jomilt From Texas

Thanks for the reply Joella. Just like to be sure and this is the place that"can't hurt to ask" :) Nice idea of calling another service but here in "Boonieville" VT there is not too many choices. We like to have it done now before the big move in. Just little over a month is the plan to hit the road.
Making my list and checking twice, going find what gets to go or sold. (it'll never make a hit song but it fun sing as I sort through all the stuff that has found it's way into the house)LOL Everyday just suprises me with what I can live with out. But not this forum ! I've even started checking out the full time one seeing I'll "qualify" for that shortly.
How I ramble on. Have to do some more sorting :p and pricing for the lawn sell. Thanks again for in info. going to travel CJ

You're welcome, Carole. I think it is good you are checking out the full-time forum, since we can learn from many different avenues and other members on that forum can help you out too...I check out all the RV American boards..tho post on the others far more rarely than here.
Understand the boonieville, I live far out in the sticks also.
Keep on learning and having fun! Jomilt From Texas

Hi - catching up on the posts as I have internet service again! I had a leak develop and the ceiling was stained. I took it to local Land Yachts service in Fl and they steam cleaned it. Beautiful job. $75. Like Jomit's service better. Since I have been living in RV happily for two months(seems like 2 years in a good way) I too have thought how little you need to be comfortable and happy. I'll tell you it doen't take much to mess it up(small space) but takes nothing to clean it up (unlike a house) Still have that "I'm in love" feeling. Marysdream Its all good!!!!!

Jomit This forum really helps so much. It is great to have you all out there and keeping in touch. Speak to son and friends but I could be having an experience on the moon for them to really relate. Am trying to talk my sister into a visit and she is getting close to coming, I think. Like Froggi's article - a lot of women are choosing this as a retirement plan. They don't know why but it is funny there are so many of us. When are you leaving on your next trip? Marysdream Its all good!!!!!

As to why so many people choose this life sytle I can only say for me it was partly retirement and having to "be home during the long winter" that we have here in northern VT. And always coming home from vacations and saying "Oh we should have stopped and seen that or gone there"
Our plans are now as we drive down the road (not the interstate) let's go see that or stay there. Life has been too stuctured for too long. It's free country and I going to taste the freedom and see the wonders of it!
Boy  this late night talk gets me going!
GOOD NIGHT every one and save traveling. going to travel CJ

Carole, You know it's very true.. you just never realize how much relaxation you can enjoy.. I traveled for years by plane all over for the company I worked for..and when I would be home I'd love to hit the open road in my rigs even though at the time it was to dog shows..but heck they were all over the country .. and I surely made it ..LOL It is the best medicine..for sure.. can't say it's free now..but sure beats swollowing a bunch of different colors..LOL
God Bless and Enjoy Barbzeee Life is full of surprises, just go with the flow !
