Hi - workamping - just drove into campground yesterday in Lake Placid area and they are advertising for workcampers. Two days on(4hrs each day)two off, two on, four off. Am applying tomorrow if they will let me do it for a month. Des n Kev - Your shelter and utility expenses will be free in exchange for the work. You could travel with the seasons so you will always have a place to stay. You can really pick up used Motorhomes inexpensively if you shop real carefully and make sure they are in good shape. Your dream sounds wonderful. Go for it. It's great your hubby has a skill where he could get work anywhere. Search google or even bring up the classified for jobs in the area where you are headed. Good luck on your search and welcome to this forum. Let us know how you make out :) Marysdream Its all good!!!!!

Thank You Marysdream!! I one time spent 7 months in a popup.. but that isnt why I'm saying this it's because it was at High Falls Park in New York really really close to lake placid... I love it up there it's soooo pretty.. Have a good time there! Also I'm preparing a journal to keep updates on. Starting now with the preparation.. I'm calling it preparation in 6,000$.. Cute huh? A little late getting to say "HI" to you Theresa and welcome aboard. What are your travel plans? Snowbirds or trips out and back home again?
We just got our 2006 Parks, Campgrounds & Services Directory (Good Sam Club) and I'll tell you even after checking things out on line, I can't believe The number of places out there(1775 pages). I haven't had book that size since Sears stopped doing their catalog. OOP! showing my age :8o:

Thank you all for the very warm welcome! Just got back from a trip to see our daughter and grandbaby! It was a wonderful weekend with them. Hope all of you had a wonderful memorial day weekend as well!
Rusty and I will likely be out and back from home (at least until we get a larger coach) as he is limited by his Parkinson's disease. I'm just scared of driving those big rigs (hubby can't really drive much) so I think we made a good choice starting out with our Itasca Spirit- big enough to last us well on shorter trips and down to see our two favorite girls but not so large that I don't feel scared on the road.
All my best, Theresa

Theresa, Glad you had a great visit.. You know, you have to be realistic about the size of the coach .. as for some smaller is perfect.. what you feel comfy in..anything you feel you have to sweat about isn't worth it.. because it becomes a chore to drive..then you are never happy with it.. I started off small.. and did work my way up larger..but my reasons were because I traveled with Dogs and had lots of them to take to shows..so for me I needed the extra space..I have a huge home so the RV being huge didn't bother me.. I will say this..if I didn't have these critters ..with how I've become some what handicapped.. I could go for a smaller rig with no problem what so ever..... In the meantime my DH is looking at an even larger one.. Yikes.. but he's now interested in staying on board for my venture south and then he'll fly back home..I am laughing because his two weeks out of 4 mos.. for me doesn't justify a larger rig..LOL.. I think of all that cleaning YIKES.. We'll see....LOL.. Now I wouldn't mind a bigger kitchen for all my gadgets and crock pots LOL
Well, glad you are back home.. and had a good time..
God Bless Barbzeee..... Life is full of surprises, just go with the flow !
