I had a funny not so funny thing happen to me a couple days ago.
I hang whirleygigs off my awning so I can tell if the wind is blowing and also looks pretty. Well I decided to go up to the Lava Butte near Bend Oregon and photograph the lava flow area. So as a rule I took the whirleygigs off the awning and rolled up the awning in case a sudden wind came up ( which it did that day). I folded up the whirleygigs and put them on the picnic table with a big block on top to hold them down and be wind proof.
When I came back I put the awning back out and went to put the whirleygigs back on the awning and one was missing and the other was torn. I didn't think I was having a senior moment...didn't I put two there? Wouldn't I notice that one was torn? Ok where is the other one? I looked around me perplexed, was someone watching me put those under the block and helped themself after they saw me leave? Was it a kid? I wasn't a happy camper and took off on my bike looking around with a frown on my face .
So no whirleygig in sight and my feelings hurt that it was gone. I tried to get over it but was dumbfounded that someone would take it.
Next day maintence was mowing behind me and I had put my satellite cord up high so it would not get mowed over. Suddenly I found a piece of material and plastic that looked like it belonged to the whirleygig. Had the mower run it over?
Suddenly I saw a BIG Squirrel run up the tree with a mouth full of something and to my shock up in the top of the tree was my whirleygig!! The squirrel had come down and snatched it and was tearing it apart to use in her nest!!
Moral of this story.....Never think the worst of people and never trust a Squirrel!!

That goes along with my story of fury at husband snoring so loud it woke me up, then thinking , how cute, when I found out it was the dog. Another thing along those lines. I was camping where there were quite a few children. One morning I awoke early to find one of the little brats firing his pop gun quite close to my campsite. I fumed over how thoughtless parents could be for not teaching their children manners. Then, oh never mind - it was a woodpecker! How wonderful to be awoken by the busy birds!

Mrs. Squirrel is still kicking the plastic ring out of her nest but kept the top ring of material. When she tore it apart the lower two rings dropped to the ground so I got them back but looks pretty bad!
Can't stop laughing about it now but sure wasn't funny in the beginning ;)

Sparkle, got a kick out of inconsiderate parents letting their kids shoot off pop guns...awakening you, BUT it turned out to be a wonderful awakening by a woodpecker!!! All in the perception of the moment, isn't it? Funny story to tell on yourself!! :)

DH and I were chatting over Margaritas and chips with another couple last night and Marilyn told us a story of her going into the shower the other day and a Mother and her Daughter had also gone to the showers ( there are three showers). Marilyn was in the middle shower and the mother and daughter were on the other sides of her. The mother wanted the shampoo so the daughter started to pass it under the wall not knowing Marilyn was in the middle instead of the Mom and the mother and Daughter kept sending things back and forth with Marilyn passing them along not saying a word. Marilyn thought this was quite comical till the mother was dressed and came over to the daughters shower and opened the curtain and began screaming when she saw Marilyn standing there naked instead of her daughter!! Marilyn thought it was pretty funny and when she told me I was crying from laughing so hard!! To just envision this was too too funny! Beats my story of the disappearing Whirleygig!!
