Sparkle it is hard to say for sure without seeing it, but sounds to me like scissor jacks, that are used to stabilize the RV. If that is what they are, they are not meant to level the unit by actual lifting the RV off the ground.
Levelers can go to different heights and they can lift the tires right off the ground..Saw one in Branson that had his front end lifted about a foot high off the ground, was as far as his leveler would go, and his unit STILL was big time out of level. Park was full, office was closed, so he talked to a man who was all set up in a short trailer and that man was nice enough to come out of his unit, disconnect all connections and change sites with the big motorhome that couldn't get level.
I thought that was REALLY NICE of that camper, a total stranger, to go to all that trouble to unhook and move to help his fellow man. Just goes to show you there are lots of nice people in this world! Made me feel good just to see it!! :)

Yes, I had a feeling that was what they were for. I couldn't see turning that handle hard enough to raise the RV. I haven't felt the need to stabilise. There's only me and my dog. Now if Dave was still around (mine, not "our" Dave), then it would be a different story. Made another 52.00 today for a total of 100.00. Think I'll treat myself to one of those little propane BBQ's.

Even along with levelers, you sometimes have to put boards underneath that base..I've only been in one area that I felt like I needed a Parachute to get out..also have an extra step I carry..but I'm use to those uneven grounds with the dog shows..just imagine if you didn't have them how many boards you'd be using too..been there done that..
Yes, it truly was really kind of that person to move..but you know most RVers will help..never had one turn their nose up and ignore someone needing help!..
Sometimes there is also advantages to having a smaller rig..LOL..

I have some boards always with me - in 12,000 miles, I've used them for 3 weeks when parking on a definite slanted street in Salem, OR in from of a friends house and and 2 cg's - one just because I wanted to be in THAT spot LOL - even tho I could have been level if I was in another - and I actually have one under one tire right now. I've been thinking of buying the soft stuff - but these 2x4's have worked just fine so far when I really need something - I took more than 1/2 of them off I was carrying - had way more than necessary - but I do believe you should have something with for the occasions necessary - and I like state cg's and boondocking - where they can be more necessary.

apackof2 if you are out camping somewhere around the 20th of July and want to connect up let me know. Just checked out the distance and you are only about an hour from Kalamazoo.
Would love to meet some of ya'll.
This leveler conversation has my attention, usually worked to get mine level with the little bubble, but didn't realize how important it was to get it very level.
Thanks for all the information.

Sparkle, the main time you notice instability is when someone else walks in the RV., or if DH is in bed earlier than I, and he rolls over in bed...you really feel it!! Grin. Being alone, unless your dog is heavy footed, you'd not notice that so badly.
Great you made a total of $100 today.. Way to go, lady!! A gas grill sounds like a plan to me!!
Have a good night all!! :)

Sparkle, your too much. You really didn't know about the stableizers. Oh well if you unscrew them make sure you srew them back up again. I knew I needed stablizers when the bear I was tracking last year tracked me in the night and thank god I was in the camper. He scratched his back on the corner near my bunk room. I thought it was someone rocking the rig. not someone, SOMETHING!

Lordie girl,
You wouldn't catch me in the woods with a bear tracking me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hairest thing I want to get next to is DH. Of course, he sometimes sounds like a bear at night with his snoring.
I would have had to leave the next day.
Sincerely yours, Marslet
Happy camping,
Marslet
