On one occasion where we took Bella she got loaded with fleas and dear ticks from the pet walk area. Spot treatment must have been wearing off. Now I keep it in the rig. I also keep Dawn dish washing liquid. If you soap up the pup and leave the soap on no less than 15 min, then rinse. It kills all of the fleas. Really works well but the trick is to leave it on 15 min or the fleas will survive the bath and revive once dry.

That Dawn is good for lots of things!! Takes waterbased paint off your hands great... Idon't buy any other kind of dishwashing liquids becuase of it's grease cutting properties.

Also does great on washing motorhomes and cars..no streaks..been usind Dawn for ages.. and the reason it kills those dang fleas..it drys them out..LOL.. also for the carpets I sprinkle 20 mule team borax.. leave it set into the carpet.. kills the eggs.. I've sprinkled it into the couches too.. in fact one time someone said it looked like snow inside.. but left in over night and vacuumed up the next day did the trick.. Showing dogs as long as I have .. I've learned no area is safe.. I use Advantex..stronger but you must make sure you don't bathe dog for a week after putting on.. and only last 30 days.. no matter what they tell you..

I once had a dog that was an absolute flea magnet...years ago before the Frontline or Advanticks. Lucky now we are able to keep the ticks off and have never had a problem with fleas with the two dogs we have now. Would be hard letting them in the motor home if they had flea problems, love 'em or not.

Ticks/NE/Ny and garlic-first ticks are at their worstup in the northeast. My half St. B/bull mastiff-ya a strong boy-he has Lyme disease already. I stopped the garlic over the winter and forgot to start it up early spring. Garlic can realy work. Frontline doesn't help at all on Buddy, I put it on him and the next day..2 ticks. So folks coming to NE watch out.

Frontline doesn't do a great job on my Doxies either..they just have such a short close coat it's hard to actually get it onto the skin. We live in the woods so ticks and fleas are a real problem. Kalaki...are you talking about giving oral garlic supp? Is this safe? I like the idea of the borax on the carpet...I've tried walnut branches under the furniture and that was a messy joke!

Hate this subject But- I have had Lyme's disease and think I caught it in NJ. Difficultdiagnosisfor Fl doctor and I was Very sick with it. Years and years before had tick infestation in Fl house. Almost did us all in and the ONLY thing that worked on Dakota was Frontline. Have used Advantic and found it useless but some people swear by it.
Never had flea problem in FL in house until after hurricanes. Nothing worked. Finally called Fleabusters. They use Borax powder, grind it into rugs and everywhere else. Totally cured the problem(also, had lawn treated) Use Frontline on both dogs -it is water proof and lasts month. I thinkIwill pick up Borax and just sprinkle around in and under RV as preventative.
I'm headed to the Northeast so thanks for reminder about critters.

Hey..I don't know about everyone else but if Borax works that well it's a lot safer and easier than other chemicals could be...I can't wait to get some and try it!!!

I just added Borax to my shopping list. Now my question is - I put it on the carpet and couch, etc - is it safe for the dogs to lie on ??? And what happens if one licks it?
Smiling is contagious - try it!

Beth, LOL You put it on the carpet and you spend the day out.. and when you return you vacuum ...I do this when I leave my Rig.. and I'm in the house.. LOL I leave it overnight to do it's job .. it actually causes the eggs of the fleas to dry up..Hence no new hatching..:) I put it in the sofa as well as we all know how our darlings can get into the couch :)
I put it in the dogs crates and under the beddings.. it's my thing to do when I'm in the Flea areas..as for the spot on.. I use Advantex.. it's the strongest and does kill fleas and tics.. they do get on them but die.. Also I vaccinate for lyme disease as well as it is in my area also.. Hope this helps you all..
God Bless
