Bethers, when you are hooked up to direct water..you had your pump on ???? that comes in free flow.. but when drawing from your tank you need the pump on.. only when needed too LOL.. My friend did that without realizing it.. and wow water did shoot everywhere.... looked like Niagra falls.. glad it wasn't me.. I also use a pressure attachement before I hook my hose up..for direct connections as sometimes you can blow seals and gaskets coming into the rig.. just a little attachement not expensive..but helps keep that pressure down.. I keep it attached to my hose so when I connect to the outside water in campground I don't have to search for it.. and yep carry lots of washers too..
These are the little things that keep you on your toes LOL
God Bless Barbzeee... Life is full of surprises, just go with the flow !

Two things I do not camp without 1) Water regulator 2)voltage meter...I have a reg one plus a Good Governor one. The Good Governor ( $89.10 Camping World)is great for testing high or low voltage, correct polarity, open ground. We go to Mexico often the power boxes are not up to U.S. code and the pitts so I test them with the Good Governor. A series of lights go on and it tells you whether the outlet is good or bad. If it is open hot wire or anything wrong WE DO NOT PLUG IN! We have found more people who blew out their things in their RV's because the voltage was too high or get a surge or went very low. Many people buy autoformers or surge guards. I have used them many times and glad my comfort things didn't blow out! I also know too well what it feels like when your air-conditioner goes belly up! Temps outside on Mon May 1st 100 degrees and 97 degrees inside the motorhome, we baked!!
I also shut off the hotwater heater when I do not need it when on Propane....your neighbor doesn't like to suddenly wake up and hear your heater kicking on! Seeya down the road, Jenny

I am in awe at you gals who seem to have such vast knowledge of how things work! I can see I am WAY to dependent on DH to "take care of things". I will start by admitting that I have no clue whatsoever what kinds of hookups are on the outside of the trailer...just not my area...but reading your posts I have decided I need to take a crash course in "hookup 101" just in case something should happen and I would be in a position to have to do some of this stuff! I will repeat YOU ALL ARE AMAZING! Jenny, Hubby and 3 Weenies!

On the subject of water pressure regulators, I always try to carry an extra. Last year I was camping in Bardstown, Ky. the first of May. I was taking a shower and the water pressure kept getting lower and lower until it stopped. I had to take one of the gallons of COLD water in the bathroom (there to flush the commode with) and rinse off!! The water pressure regulator had gone bad!!! Won't forget that one!! You know, Jenny, it doesn't hurt , you may wish to continue traveling alone..and it would be nice to be aware of how things work. One of these days, God Forbid, you may wish to travel on your own, and it would be helpful to KNOW how things work. If you do them yourself a couple of times is easier to learn and retain, rather than just watching it done.
I know some older women who have NO idea how things "work" in their "stick houses".. One didn't know if her phones in the house belonged to them, or the phone company...Had NO idea how to pay bills, had never filled up her own car with gas...Her husband handled EVERYTHING!!! Can you imagine how lost she'd be if she lost him?... Of course that was the generation ahead of me when those things were more the norm... Nevertheless, it would be TOUGH!! Jomilt From Texas
