Are fuel prices cramping your lifestyle? How have you changed your habits to cope? We are still working weekend warriors and I cannot believe what it's costing these days to fill the tank!

Welcome, Lilwonderducky to this great forum.. as you see we do discuss almost anything..:) For the gas prices..not much we can do unfortunately unless we go back to horse and buggy..oh, just like our forefathers..crossing the plains in covered wagons..theirs with cloth ours with fiberglass..:) It makes you more choosy of where to go.. that's for sure..Right now in my area it's 3.099 a gallon and my rig holds 75gals.. at 7 mpg.. sure hope for strong tail winds ..LOL.. I'm still gonna head south for the winter regardless.. if I have to save my bucks and just do small trips..but away I go come Jan..
So tell us about YOU.. do you RV and where are ya going ?

Hi Ducky, Good to have you with us.
I'm still out there traveling around. My concession to the gas prices is to try to look at maps and plan my sight-seeing better. And I'm workamping 2 days a week this summer for a "home-base" site to help defray the costs also. But I like to keep busy and like to workamp also.
I used to have a tendency to go see something, and sometimes have to backtrack to see something else I missed. LOL But I really do try to do my research in advance and take my time and see what I want anywhere near a route so I won't be doing that. I get approx 10 mpg, but if I backtrack 10, 20 or 30 miles, it's costly.
But, gas prices will not stop me, just maybe make me play smarter. Smiling is contagious - try it!

Hi Barb and everyone! Yes my roomie and I RV but can only escape on the weekends and extended holidays. Recently it has been to the Peace River to dig for fossils while the river is low. (new to the fossil digging thing but its cool fun and you have to look out for "Stumpy" the three legged aligator who at 8 feet long must live well!) We love our RV and have set a plan in motion to one day make the break! I love every minute we get to spend in it and share our experiences with friends whenever we can. It's a 2001 Allegro Bay 34' with two slides.

We try to see things as we go so we don,t have to backtrack. Fill up when we think the price is best etc. Did wonderful on this last tank. Gas was all $3.099 then we saw #3.0799and filled up. Went around another corner and the gas was $2.999. Just made me so happy. We are having fun and are at Seaside Oregon now until Monday. We have WiFi in our rig which is soooooo nice. Raining lightly Happy Traveling LV

WIFI is nice to have! I need to set up a satellite type system. I don't know much about those and the ones I've seen in the big camping chain stores are sooo expensive. More research is in order. We will be living in the RV in a few months full time for a year while we tear down and rebuild a house. (All part of a larger plan to make the great escape) Those systems seem so nice. I'm thinking that an RV is similar to a boat in that there is always something more to add. Sometimes wants and needs start to merge (sigh) We'll be piling a bunch of the girls from work into the RV for a Memorial Day Weekend Duval crawl and shopping extravaganza (Key West). Splitting expenses will help but I hope that the fuel returns to reality. Till then, its more crock pot than restaurants.

just made me very happy with the central ME prices.
I paid 2.69 for my fill-up a couple days ago - was lower than everywhere. And I know I'll be looking to pay 3 and more. Smiling is contagious - try it!

Two of the grocery store chains here offer a discount on gas at their locations with gas stations. We split our grocery buying down stratigically to get the most for our money. Last week I got .50 off each gallon ($25 off each fillup in the RV) and will receive that same discount the next 3 times I fill up this month. Then I will switch to the next store for gas where I have .40 off each gallon on my next fill up. This months grocery purchases will determine my next months gas prices. We use coupons at the store so this just helps a little too. :) Kerry
