I made my first application today for the 2007 season. I thought I'd better find out more before making a commitment. Has anyone done this and what are the pitfalls? They want a 60 day commitment and that could be 60 days of misery unless I sneak away in the night. Are there "codes" to watch out for like when you are looking for a house and it says, "dollhouse" which means, "can't swing a cat!"

Just go for jobs YOU would like to do. Some places offer small salary and free campsite and hookups. I'm not fond of working for NOTHING!!
60 days is not long..I'd think unless the job really stunk...one could hack 60 days!! Grin.. And if it IS really bad, Sparkle...they won't shoot you if you wish to leave... :)
Good luck and hope you find a fun one..and fun place!

Sparkle.. I have met several friends on the road that do it.. and just love it.. they work their way across the USA... Most get free parking and a little salary.. depending on what job they have.. in fact Joella... Poki in the chat room .. he does it and is at a beautiful resort in Palm Springs.. he runs the store there.. Sparkle by all means if you can do that .. go for it.. beats paying high prices and you can enjoy what you want to do.. RVing and full timing.. Sure wish I could.. I'd be trucking all over this grand country..
Beth is going up to New Hampshire.. she'll love it up there..
Oh and Margo also Joella is work camping in a great place too... so lots of people I know are..
Sparkle.. make your liver treats for the dogs.. and well be careful on the cake.. that's only for those special men LOL
God Bless...
Barbzeee...

Yeah Barb, I know many who do workcamp..Most work in the offices of the RV parks...or maintenance of parks...Know one gal who worked in one of the "tourist trap stores" at Yellowstone National Park.. She and husband did...and then he passed away and she continued. She lives IN Yellowstone in her Class C... How NEAT is that? Yellowstone..Gorgeous area!!! Free RV site with hookups... She has her Satellite Dish as YNP is FAR from TV stations.. She loves it!! I love that area!!

I applied through Good Sam, but it has dawned on me, belatedly, that all those jobs will be in Good Sam Parks and I don't go to those. I need to apply at State Parks, more my life style. Anybody know how to get in touch with various State Parks for jobs? I won't hear from Good Sam until the middle of November so I've plenty of time to look around. I can't work until 2007 anyway.

Take your time, decide what type of cg or park you want to be at - ask questions - and then even call cg's to see if they're hiring.
I knew WHERE I wanted to be and what I wanted - and started looking that way. and it's working for me. I made a commitment for the entire summer season - but it gets me where I want - and we made the deal of what days and hours I'd work before I agreed. So I know I have the time to go everywhere else I want to go.
There are lots of jobs out there - just remember, when you make a commitment - they work both ways. Expect them to honor their agreement to you - and you to honor yours to them. If either doesn't then you can always leave early.
Smiling is contagious - try it!

You are just a fountain of good information. I hope you keep posting when you finally get on the road. Did you get the comment I left on your web-site?

Corps of Engineers Parks are really nice too..and they hire women that are alone too...
The lady who was parked next to us down in the Valley was headed to a Corps of Engineers next to work. She's worked there before and loved it..
