Okay this may be a dumb question but remember I am new to the RV world. I've seen crock pot cooking while driving down the road mentioned more than once. My question is how do you get your outlets to work while you're driving? Do you drive with your generators running or do the outlets work while the motors running? Also, what size do you think fits best in a standard RV sink? I know the one I have for home is too big but I do need something large because of all the boys. I just love the thought of having homeade food (after driving all day) without all the work.
Barbzee I making your Crock Pot Fiesta Chicken tomorrow. Dh can't wait to try it :)

There are NO dumb ques ions, Kerry....Remember we ALL began as green newbies too!! Grin!!
My large crockpot will fit in my RV sink...NOT the oval crockpot, but the large round one..
I have never crock-potted while traveling.. never even thought of it..so learn something new every day.
I do cook up a roast day before I leave..makes good fast meals and sandwiches too, so at the end of those long travel days I can throw together a supper really fast! I take some along in a zip lok bag in the refrigerator..and have another zip lok package of it in the freezer..
Happy travels!!

I actually bought an inverter to use in cigarette lighter JUST for my small crock pot - which then can sit on the floor between the seats and cook when travelling. Now, I haven't done it yet - but I will! I have a basket this crockpot fits in - and with a towel around the crockpot so it doesn't get the basket too hot - it should work just fine.
Smiling is contagious - try it!

Well, I can not tell a lie.. I've traveled with mine going..(does that surprise all of you ) LOL I also cook up in advance.. I slice the roast so I can do sandwiches and also have gravy in ziplocs for quick open face.. Hey ya got to think ahead this way when you pull in ...everyone is usually hungry ..and zip your done.. My Crock Pots fit in the sink..and I do put a towel around it so it doesn't rattle..
When traveling in the summertime I also have the Genny running as for the critters I need the air..so I just can't have it running only for air..gotta use energy too LOL
You'll think of more things when you are driving that maybe you should have done.. I had one time a Turkey in an big Nester Cooker going.. Yep we had a dog show on Thanksgiving.. and who could have Thanksgiving without a Turkey... LOL ...
Enjoy and ask away.. hey we learn to by a lot of the questions..
God Bless
Barbzeee....thinking now of what to put in Crock Pot..:)
Life is full of surprises, just go with the flow !

Kandj - I had same question. It was answered but I think I have it now. You either have to run generator to have outlets working while you are driving or do what Bethers did and get a cigarette lighter inverter(Is that right?)
I'm going to look for an cigarette lighter inverter.

You got it, Mary..and you can buy inverters at auto parts houses, Radio Shack, Wal*mart. Those places are cheaper than a RV parts place.. We got our at Tractor Supply Company..
We went to Nova Scotia a few years back and loved it!!
Travel happy, all!! :)

Okay today I went and bought an inverter but its the wrong kind! I accidentally got the kind that turns AC to DC - duh! Chalk it up to mommy brain :)
So its okay to run the generator while driving? My dad told me to not run the generator for long periods of time - just a couple hours at a time. Of course I know he doesn't know EVERYTHING but we let him believe he does. He rented a RV once over 25 years ago - lol.
Today I made Barbzees Crock Pot Fiesta Chicken for dinner and OH MY it was GOOD! My kids said I should go on that Celebrity Cooking show. I told them I'm not a celebrity and they said I am to them (ahhhhh).
