Read yesterday that shower heads are made with a plastic "filter" in it that "snuckers the water down" thru a little bitty hole. Told DH and he investigated and took ours out as our shower head has always been selfish with the waterfall.
What a NICE shower I had last night!!!
Don't know why WE didn't think of that before, as am familiar with filters in sink faucets and how they can "gum up" with residues in the water.
I'm sure if you boondock a lot, this would be a neat water saving device. I Still wet down, turn off water, soap up..etc.. Y'all know the routine! :)

OK I can see this is a topic I'm going to need to explore! I've never showered in an RV before so this will be a new experience...I am assuming you wet down..soap up ..and then use water again to conserve hot water? I have no idea what kind of output ours will have but knowing these things in advance will sure help! Does anyone use the "outdoor" showers..our trailer doesn't have one but we have access to some of those solar shower bags..any thoughts on those!
Happy Monday gals!

Yes, to conserve water since the water heater is small, you wet down..cut the water off..has a little cut off at the shower head, soap down and scrub..then turn water back on and rinse.
We have an outdoor shower and have had them on previous units and NEVER used it. Always embarassed the other campers to see us out nude, showering!!! Grin..
I'm sure it would be good for "cleaning fish" or something like that. For camping with kids.. I'd rather put a plastic dishpan by the door for dunking/rinsing of sandy feet...rather than that shower, which on our trailer is the other side from the door. Might be nice to wash a dog outside..
I am a "preventive housekeeper"...and if I can PREVENT messes, makes less work for me..So, with kids....each had their own sleeping bag, their own clothing bag..we used soft sided canvas zipped luggage. Each was responsible for taking care of making their own bed and sleeping bags, rather than bed making/un-making if they are sleeping on the dinette area, for instance, is far simpler than sheets/blankets. Only the very young got by with "mama doing".. When we camped our kids helped with chores, same as they did at home. Don't believe in Mama doing it all while others lounge in the pool or on the patio! Grin!!
We once took 3 granddaughters and their mother to Florida to Disney with us. I told them ONE duffle bag each, holding ALL clothes and supplies. And each was to pick up after themselves and HIDE all bags away,so we could walk thru the trailer. They used the RV park showers too. Six near grownups was a crowd for that little trailer, with no slide. The grands were all taller than me! We had a blast!
Being the two of you, you and hubby will do fine with your in house shower. I have a thing about using my own clean shower. That's just me, and doesn't bother me if others use the shower house..Some love MORE room! I like shower-ing and getting into my Victoria's Secret "nighties"...Draws quite a crowd to do that and walk home from the showerhouse!!
I've been camping a long time, and could have some hints for you.. Any questions, feel free to ask!!
I LOVE to chat!!! Grin!!

Hey Girls,
I use my outside shower to wash my hair. You really get some weird looks from campers, but I can't stand for my head to have sweated and my hair is wet. So, out comes the shampoo and towel and quick as a wink, I have a clean head.
Sincerely yours, Marslet
Happy camping,
Marslet

Sounds like a workable plan to me!! My daughter can do that...she has a perm, and hers dries, looking like naturally curly hair..Mine needs care....fluffing, poufing, volumizing, spraying, picking, lifting, cussing!!! ;)

I can see that using the shower will be a trial and error thing but I bet I can get the hang of it. For years we have shared a bathroom with the fellow who lets us camp on his property so having my own space will be SO nice.
I appreciate any info you all have to offer...have been camping for years but never in a trailer...POP-UP didnt count because it was just one step up from a tent to me! When you travel do you empty out your cabinets? Does the stuff stay put or roll all over the place. My family lived in a mobile home when I was a child but that's too long ago for me to remember!
Thanks once again for the wonderful advice!

No emptying of cabinets. Our trailer has it's own supplies. All we move in is clothes, pills, food.
We have a set of Corel dishes and they ride fine. Some like paper plates..I don't mind washing dishes, and we seldom boondock, therefore needing to conserve water.
I use a lot of electric kitchen appliances..which stay in the trailer too. Towels, dishtowels, bed lines are all especially for the trailer.
When the trailer is moving, everything stays put. I have NEVER had a cabinet or refrigerator door open while enroute..Knock on wood.
I have a white hobnail glass lamp on our little end table between the rockers. It stays put too, because I put Silicone II on the bottom of it and stuck it down to the table. When I wish to remove it, I can apply pressure and it WILL come up, scrape off the Silicone II with a putty knife and will never know it was there. I had this same lamp on the booth table of our Class C motorhome for five years, with no problem.
Milt told me last night after using the shower again I should go back to that RV Forum and thank that fellow who posted about removing the shower head filter. Told him I would, but was following "rabbit trails" on several forums and do not know where he was!!!
Any other questions, just ask Jenny..we'll ALL be happy to help!!
I forgot to add that I have storage boxes in my cabinets to keep small things together, like spice bottles. I also keep things like Canola Oil, Vinegar, bottles in boxes that "fit them" to keep them from turning over and leaking..or rolling around. Have a small box that All envelopes of onion soup, taco flavoring and the such is organized in. This is not really due to the RV moving..I organize at home in this same manner.. I'm a neatnik, organize freak. Grin.

Hey Joella,
We think alike! I too have everything especially for the camper...I refuse to move things back and forth between the camper and the house! I frequent yard sales and thrift stores and I have just about anything that I could need for camping in the trailer. I love the idea of small boxes and containers for spices and small items and envelopes of seasoning..I do that same thing at home! Might just try out that silicone idea too although I can just see DH making me take everything off the table and counter tops before rolling. I just could not resist the urge to DECORATE the trailer so I have a few things hanging on walls and a few decorative only items..hey might as well feel at home! You are SO much help and I really enjoy every little bit of wisdom you pass along!

Some stuff called "Quake-hold" works great to keep things secured. They use it in earthquake zones and museums to keep things in place and it is easily removed. I also use a lot of velcro to keep pictures from swaying and also for hanging light objects. And, of course, the rubberized shelf liner is a must. Buy it at Walmart or the $ Store - it's cheaper than at the camping stores and just as good. I use it to cushion dishes and pots and pans, keep my plants (yes, I travel with fresh herbs and my flowers) in the shower when we travel, etc., etc.
