Alrighty! We've been needing a Pet Talk Discussion area...as we seem to "take over" others with our pet news.
One of the nicest things we did for Fancy was to remove our screening from the screen door. We replaced it with HEAVY duty DARK Plexiglas. Make sure it's heavy duty, or it will flex, crack and be a mess. Cut it to fit, and drill holes for the screws you want to put in it..as it will crack easily when pressure is put on it. The heaviest grade is FAR easier to work with.
Fancy loves to sit at the door and survey her Kingdom. Being Plexiglas, this can be used when heat or air condiioning is running.
I like it too, as I like "openess"...and I like others can't see in, except at night when lights are on in the trailer.
Chat later!

One of the nicest things I did for Bogie the Pit was to make a wood stand that fit exactly between the dash and the passenger seat. Then I made a mattress pad to fit over both the seat and the stand. Bogie happilly jumped up on this big bed and I started the engine. He jumped off, lay down beside me and never used the bed I went to so much trouble to make. At a rest stop I chucked the whole thing in a dumpster! Ungrateful wretch!!!

LOL, sorry for laughing Sparkle but I can relate.. What I had to do with my critters.. on my screen door I put a guard up..and a wire mesh..I got from Home depot..drilled holes and everything is protected on the bottom part..now I have to do the same with the top as I see a spot in the screen..so back to home depot.. I also bungie the screen door so they can't hit it open..as some of these doors are so flimsie.. Isn't it amazing what extremes we will go .. Now as for my crate setup.. I took out the lounge chair and table setup and I put a sheet of clear plexi glass on the wall actually used double faced tape.. holds it in place and then had a platform made and bolted down the straps to hold everything in place.. I have 2 - 24x36x42 crates on the bottom ..(they have double sided doors so I could put them in any direction..) and on the top level I had another platform done..to stable the bottom crates and a side crate of 24x36x42 .. fastened in.. I don't travel with mine loose...I also took out my passenger seat and put in a Freezer.. yes, I cook for my critters..LOL Ground chicken and hamburger patties.(ground sirloin). and veggies... I also use Verus Dry food... Yogurt (non fat).. it's quite an ordeal but let me tell ya.. they all eat.. even when I showed other people's dogs.. I never had one refuse a meal...LOL ..
I only share my Rig..LOL they allow me my small space LOL...

Oh I cook for the Boggs too. I make Liver cookies. They are just like fresh dry dog food. Liver, garlic, egg, cornmeal and flour. When any of my friends dogs are ill I make up a batch and the dog will always eat them. SOME of my friends say I wouldn't do as much for them if they were ill - well, I'll have to think about that!

I love the plexiglass idea, but love fresh air whenever possible too much to do that. I also use bungee cords - one to keep the outside door in place where I want it and another to keep the screen shut.
Tips lays in front of the door, breaths the fresh air and watches all that passes. He loves it. Moxie totally ignores it unless she thinks I'm going through it without her!
Neither of them are allowed in the front seats. But if I run in a store without putting up the shade, etc - I come out to discover Moxie driving and Tips sharing the passenger seat with Bonita Burro (a pinata that travels with us - :) ).
They get mainly dog food, but they do know the difference between my other meals and dinner - cuz they always get people treats after I eat dinner.

We like fresh air too, but living where I do in Texas, about 10 months of the year the air conditioner is on and it's either close the door and not see out....OR use our Plexiglas Screen-less door!
Have the a/c running as I speak. Been here since Feb 15th, and was without a/c ONLY the first 3 days.
Sparkle, i got a big laugh out of Bogie and his wooden stand! Your liver cookies sound GOOD..wanta share? The recipe I hasten to add..Don't think I wanta munch on them!!
Barbzee, We had to find a way to "lock our screen" too, till this trailer, it has a nice lock on it. Your double layered crates sound very nice and safe for your babies! Would you share your babies recipes? If I full-timed, I'd have to figure out a place to put a freezer. We had one in our Avion 5th wheel.

We were packing our Trailer to go on a trip and I threw two Mexican shopping bags over by the dinette out of the way as I carried out clothes on hangers.
We came back in and Fancy had "packed herself for travel"...not wishing to be left...
This is her photo:
Now!! Cross your fingers, friends!!! Did I learn to post a photo???

Ok this is how spoiled my cats are. In our Tropi-Cal We put in a doorway at the bottom of the entry steps with a short tunnel that went into the outside compartment for the litterbox. It was great because they had a lit up room all to theirselves and when I needed to change the litterbox I just made sure the cats were inside and then closed off the doorway and went outside lifted the door and cleaned the box. It was fine till Biff got too fat to go through the doorway and so we have a new motorhome where the litterbox is hidden under the steering wheel table.
Oh the screen door has a lock on it because the Houdini knows how to open doors! Sharon can tell you how BIG Biff is, he is as big as that Japanese cat!. ;p
