Hello everyone. I'm new to this site and I'm attempting to find out why I never see girls in the drivers seat of diesel pusher class A's. The salesmen tell me its because diesel pushers are too hard and stressful to drive. Is it true? Granted they seem a little intimadating but don't you get used to that? I'm in the process of making a decision for myself and my husband who is disabled. I will be doing all the driving and set up, so I want something that drives easy, no swaying and bumping, and auto levelers, etc. What's the truth ladies? Do I stay with Class C's (hate the look of those and don't like ford!). I appreciate your honesty! :)

Hi, I've driven a Class A 34' gas motorhome but never a diesel pusher. I am intimidated by the Class A so only drive out on the freeways, never was when we had a Class C. However, I'm with you, we love the space of the Class A but I have to admit that my husband does most of the driving.
I do have a girlfriend who loves driving their Class A. I guess you just need to do it and get used to it.

Hi, I drive a 34ft class A, and I am the only driver. You just have to get used to the width. It took me only a couple of times of driving. You can drive a diesel pusher no prob..

I don't want to get ugly...but the salesman who told you that MUST be a male chauvinist...and in my humble opinion, is eaten up with DUMB!! Grin!
My Mama raised me that I could do anything I wanted and that I set my mind to. So, I have. I've driven Class A's ...but not a disel...I have however driven a diesel tractor pulling a fully loaded 40' float.
Yes, I was "white knuckled" when I started all of them. I remember when I was a youngster and drove my first car...Same thing! But, ya get over it! Once you get used to the particular vehicle you're driving...it's a breeze!
Just buy and and drive what you want!!
YOU CAN DO IT, GIRL!!! :)

I own a Class C only cuz I wanted small. But if I ever change and want the larger Class A - you best believe I'll drive it. (I'll have to since I'm traveling solo LOL).

Ok, my nickles worth.... Gosh I don't like DUMB Saleman..the statement is not worth the paper it's written on.. I drive a Class A and have driven a Diesel Pusher 42 ft..a little different in braking and also just a tad bit in backing up.. but it's really all about YOU! Just like anything you drive... a little common sense goes along way..You take your time and get use to it..you'll be fine..
Some how all those little stories of Women can't, come from DUMB...Chauvinistic Jerks.....I do agree however, there are some things us women don't do..but just think about it.. WHY..LOL
Welcome to by the way...this is a great group of neat Gals....that are always willing to help and put the story straight... ..Relax and enjoy...
God Bless

I drive a Class A gas. I felt claustrophobic in the cab of a Class C, but that's just me. Remember those GUYS who buy a Class A deisel need classes, so you just do the same. And get another salesperson - don't let that one get the commission.

Reminds me of the boyfriend of a friend's daughter who answered the door when I went to visit my friend. The guy looked at me---looked at the rv in the driveway and in unbelief ask if I had driven that in!! I looked him straight in the eye and said "Yes, and I parked right next to your truck!! Isn't that scarey?" He was speechless and I had the upper hand the rest of the time he was there!! LOL I loved it.

Thank you everyone for your encouragement. I'm one of those who can do what she puts her mind too. So, I'm going to a different dealer and test drive the Class A! I drove a Dynamax Grand Sport 38' with a Freightliner chassis and a CAT 300 motor. It was GREAT!! But, it's real expensive! $285,000!! Since this is our first rv I'm real hesitant to start off with such an expensive mh. Especially since it's not for fulltiming. We have 20 acres, 10 cows, and 3 dogs in Brooksville, Fl. so I have to spread myself around!!
Thanks again for your input. This is a great site!
