I had a bracket slip in some heavy wind last week up in BC and lost my awning. The rear bracket slipped, wind caught the awning and ripped it baddly before I could safely pull over. Luckily the hardware wasn't damaged. The wind was gusting so bad I had to cut it off...couldn't handle getting it back on in the wind on the side of the highway. It's a "Carefree of Colorado", and it looks as though I could replace it myself. Does anyone have experience installing new fabric on the roller? Is it not worth the effort?? Best Regards, PLB

We had to replace the fabric on a Carefree awning several years ago. We ordered the replacement awning (our hardware was fine) and had it professionally installed. Discovered it takes a lot of "know-how" to get it installed properly so it will roll correctly. The guy who did ours did such a good job that it worked better after he was done than it had ever done before.
