I recently bought a travel trailer, as my new job requires 100% travel. I subscribe to Dish Network and have two receivers in the house. My intentions are to buy a second dish and take one of the receivers from home. What do I need to know about buying a dish to be used in my travels? Is there additional equipment that I'll need (I have plenty of coax)? How should I set the dish up? Should I be concerned about theft and if so, any advice on how to secure it? Regards, Beth

Some people will steal you undies off the line for gods sake there are stands you can buy to stake done the dish, but it needs to be mobile so you can turn it and get it be pointing in the right direction of the satallite. go to camping world or its website and see what they have to secure it. someone stole my covers that go over the tires when stationary and my front license plate so go figure. what kind of job is 100% travel? carnival work? I work in telecommunications installing cell sites (equipment in buildings under those tall towers) which handle your cellular calls. I'm thinking that joining the carnival may be more fun.
Thanks for your response. I'll check the catalogue out. I may try to find something to mount it on the roof, but be able to remove it when traveling. Regards, Beth

Hey Beth, The King Dome Satellite System is a permanent fix. It goes on your roof just like the tv antenna. It looks like an upside down bowl on the roof and is adjusted from the inside. Kind of expensive. 1100 - 1250 not installed. Works with Direct, Dish Network and Express Vu and any receiver. Most RV dealers will have them in stock, they are really popular with the "full timers" I don't have one but most of the nicer class "A" come with them.

Update... I was using old information. My friend works at an RV dealership and she said they have these systems sitting on the shelf marked for 600-700$. Good luck on your search. Susan Y :confuse: This message was edited by susan-y on 7-19-03 @ 9:57 AM
