Merry Christmas Evie and Sheila. I have done about all the shopping I'm going to do. I went to Lafayette yesterday and the traffic was about as bad as I have ever seen.

Last weekend I went to Natchitoches, LA for their Christmas Festival and fireworks. It was beautiful but a little cool. I had 2 jackets on and was still cold. Natchitoches is the oldest town in Louisiana and this is the 300 anniversary. I was in college there for the 250 anniversary. I can't believe it's been 50 years. Back then the festival was only one weekend and there was a lighted boat parade. Now the festival goes on every weekend from Thanksgiving to New Years. There are light displays on the river bank across from the downtown area. It's not really a river anymore. It's a cutoff from the Red River called Cane River Lake. If you go to the web site for Natchitoches' Christmas Festival I think they have pictures of the lights.

Guess it will just be me and Harold for Christmas. My older son is in New Jersey with his son and the younger one seldom shows up for holiday meals. I don't plan on cooking much. I sent money with my son to get my grandson's present. I don't know what to buy an 11 year old. Sheila, you have so many to buy for I would be at a loss too.

I am having cataract surgery in January so I'm not going to the campout the Louisiana Girls have planned. I don't want to take a chance on catching anything.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Martha

Hey, you guys monitor after all! Martha, I had cataract surgery on one eye this year and the only problem I had was extreme dry eye afterwards. But once I got the tear drops it was fine. Guess they'll do the other eye one of these months. I bought one of those cooked chickens at the market a few weeks ago and put it in the freezer. The other day when I was debating about what to have for Christmas dinner, the lightbulb lit up! Thaw it Wed. and heat in the oven Thurs. Voila! I know youngest son will be here, haven't heard from oldest, but he waits until last minute to tell me anyway. Wish middle son could join us, but he's back east in snow country. Sheila, I think your gift problem might be solved by sending just a tad less than you planned to each one. You have a large gaggle! I only have 2 grandkids and I don't get to see either of them because one is in Boston and the other in Japan! Don't do holiday shopping any longer, but I remember the hectic middle of the night shopping excursions way back when. Hope everyone has a super Christmas and a successful 2015. Evie

I know what you mean about the second Wed. - that's my date, too. You have a lot of gifts to keep track of. Do you have to mail them back to Idaho? The cost of sending things back to my family was the main reason I quit sending gifts and everyone just gets money. I'm not thrilled about doing that, but oh, well, even a little money is something my grandkids (and sons) can use. I just hope they can actually use it to buy something for themselves, but since all of my sons are in financial difficulties it probably just gets absorbed. I'm taking the rig to the RV repair place to get the generator fixed today. I know I'll need it in Q. Now if I can just stay healthy!!! Seems like something comes up every time I plan to hang out with you guys. Take care, Evie

in a lot of ways I'm a routine person...so when I get on the internet its very routine

gmail to the breast cancer thing

bank

rv america look see noone has been here and on my way unless the rare time some one does post something then I respond :)

got diesel at the texico station between Blythe and Q for 2.82 cash price

so remember that when you come up..

I remember when Larry's parent's would send us money for Christmas there were times when that helped buy the Christmas so we used it for what was best needed...and I'm sure your sons do as well

Martha I'm surprised that the son doesn't come home for food what is he not normal??? :) kidding I'm sure that he as reasons..but if I was close to home would for sure be at home with bells on and would be helping prepare it...down to almost Christmas eve

going to games tomorrow then to friends to make these sandwiches they have these irons that are mostly cast iron some alumonum but the caste iron works better...put your fixings in it and back on the fire turn them over so both sides are grilled and just about before you get your plate filled the sandwiches are ready...and are they good!! then back to the same place for Christmas din din nice people to visit with and food is yummy

you all have a blessed day

sheila

and Evie don't you dare get sick this year!!!!

Christmas dinner was good. I am tired of cooking and our refrigerator is so full of food I don't think I will have to make anything until New Years. Harold wants to eat out next Christmas. I hate to eat out on a holiday. My son went to Baton Rouge with his girlfriend. He didn't want to go there either. Our neighbors had a crown today. There must have been 15 cars there so no telling how many people. Harold said he would have to leave if that many people showed up here. When we have people show up to visit he thinks of something to do at the barn when he has enought. A real social butterfly. lol

I ask my brother in Canada if we could quit exchanging gifts for Christmas. The postage got so expensive it was more than the gift. I usually send money with my son for my grandson or send a gift card. I have no clue what he would want. He has so many legos he could build a city. I got to spend Christmas with him 2 years ago so we went shopping.

I paid $2.11 for gas the other day. I don't know what diesel is but I'm sure it's way down too. My CRV has a much smaller gas tank than my van had. The first time I filled it up I thought something was wrong with the pump. I was so use to spending $75 to $80 for gas. I need to fill up my motorhome before it goes back up.

I had one of the pie irons but never used it. I don't know what happened to it. It's probably in the containers that have stuff from my old motorhome.

Martha
