Sounds like you are certainly keeping busy! Guess we don't have to worry about you pining away staring at cactus. My weeks have been a bit like yours. One medical appointment led to more tests, another call from the doctor's assistant to send me back for a repeat blood test, CT scan, etc. Plus I have a 91-year-old friend a few streets away who is getting to that point where she may have to give up driving, so I've also been driving her to a couple of her medical appointments.
The good thing is that I have met so many people since I moved here, and joined a few of the many groups available - there are dozens. The bad thing is that now I have so many things to attend that every day is busy and I sometimes feel overwelmed. Go figure. Can't please me no matter what.
Hope everyone has a good holiday. I'm assuming my two sons will be here and I bought some stuffed chicken breasts at a local specialty shop to bake. My oldest never lets me know if he's coming or not until the last minute, shows up an hour or two later than he says he'll come, and has to leave before dark. I should be used to it by now. Even though he lives only 40 miles away, I only get to see him on Christmas, Thanksgiving and Mother's Day (maybe my birthday, but that's not a given). However, the youngest will come and stay overnight so he can follow me to the repair shop with my car. They say I may have to leave it a day or two and he says he'll stay as long as I need him. My granddaughter and ex-DIL are coming today and I said I would take them out for lunch. Granddaughter has to go to work for 4:00 p.m. and since she worked until midnight last night, they will probably be later getting here. I'm not sure we'll even have time for lunch, but we'll see. Middle son lives 3,000 miles away and has no phone of his own. I call is work number late at night from time to time to talk to him if he's there. Another granddaughter also lives 3,000 miles away and I'm sorry to say I've only actually seen her 5 or 6 times in her life (she's 21). I email her every so often and maybe get an answer once or twice a year. Makes me sad when I remember how close I was to my grandmother.
Don't mean to sound too negative, but sometimes I feel that I'm not just low down on everyone's list -- I'm not even on it! I remember old folks complaining about being alone and nobody caring about them. Guess I'm one of them now!
Let's hope this cold, wet weather goes away soon! I guess we should be glad we're healthy enough to do all this running around!
