Yea for Sheila! Sounds like you had a great trip. It's really hard to plan and make trips alone, isn't it? Even a long car trip is frightening. I think I've hit on my mental problem. I kept thinking RV life would go on the same way only I'd be doing the driving. Now I'm starting to realize that life will never be the same, including travel. It's taken me a long time to get my head around that, but I'm starting to branch out to other things (clubs, hobbies) that I wouldn't have done before. As long as dear friends like Sharon are willing to have me tag along behind them I still do some traveling. But I had to face the fact that for me, heading out on long trip alone just won't happen. I thought I'd be bombing around until I was 80, but now in my mid-70's I realize every year the body rebels more and more. It gets harder and harder to squat down and dump, climb even a stepladder to reach up high, or keep getting in and out to level or back into a site. One by one these duties become chores that wear me out. I hope I can keep at it until 80 or more, but I also hope I'll recognize when I need to hang up the keys.
Have you decided what to do about Quartzsite and whether you will find someone to drive the fiver or try it yourself?
As for the dust ruffle - do you have a wooden panel under your bed? I cut a fabric shoe bag to fit under my lift up bed and stapled it to the wood paneling. The bed lifts up just fine. Perhaps a dust ruffle would work the same way? Try taping it up first to see how it looks. Or, do the same thing on the edge of your bed platform. Staple it along the edge and when you lift up the bed the whole thing would life up. You'd just have to be careful you didn't catch the dustruffle when you closed it, but if your bed platform is like mine it overhangs quite a bit and the ruffle probably wouldn't catch anyway. Another solution would be to hand sew the dust ruffle to the underside of your quilt.
The colors sound really nice and a quilt would be great! Pretty big undertaking, but it sure would keep you out of trouble!
