Just hopping in for a little visit... to chat with friends and to enjoy myself!!

Just got back from 8 days trip to Nebraska...Went to see my friend, Mary and attend the Pen Palers Picnic of Nebraska...We have been having this for 30 years...but we have been friends for many more years than that. Most of us have been in each others homes and we had friends from NY, Kansas, Washington, Indiana, Colorado, Iowa, Oklahoma. We all paled and had our kids and raised them and now they are getting to be in their 50's and the parents are OLD....ha!...

We had such a good time...they are such a fine bunch of ladies...All are so funny, and lots of laughing and talking goes on... No one carps and complains.... we are all just fun-loving ladies..

I did leave Milt home alone, with meats all cooked in the freezer and he warmed that over and fixed a good salad daily...I called him twice daily and he made it fine... He did say he about died from Lonliness!!! ha! He's doing well healthwise, now goes back to the cardiologist once a year, to his brain surgeon once every 1 1/2 years... and the only one we see often is our General Dr who keeps up with us and keeps us in pills...ha!

I am doing very well... next month will be one year since my stroke.. I got over that fast...and am doing real good... We did clear the "south 40" of our land...It seems that all our 'wilderness" gets all carried away with vines and you just have to get rid of the underbrush and vines....or the vines will take over and kill the trees in there...So...we had to do that.. It's the last section of our acreage that had to be cleared... From now on... just mowing to keep it down..

I no longer have an RV...and haven't for about 3 years...and I hate to tell y'all how very much I miss traveling and RVing!! We had traveled in our first motorhome beginning in 1968... and have been to every state of the nation... except Hawaii.... I STILL love traveling.. but Milt has so much trouble with his feet that travel is no longer fun for him.. So...we are homebound..

I am into reading books.... and sometimes do some painting of decor for the yard.... and so do keep busy.. Friend Joy and I go weekly to the "big city" to eat out, shop and do girly things..

Hope all of y'all are doing fine...I do miss all of y'all... we'll see if I can continue to post and tell y'all something.. Grin!!

Love you all,

Joella

so glad to hear from you!!! know how much you enjoy the trip to NB did you drive or fly ...when I mentioned the trip to WA the kids said fly it is probably cheaper ... to fly to SD to my drivers license it was 465 if I did the math right I can go from Tetonia ID where I'm at right now to Caldwell ID where nephew lives as well as a high school class mate then to Bend where I'm hoping Kerry will let me spend the night then to Grants Pass for the gtg then to Port Ludlow then to Rapid City was going to cost about 600 like I said if I did the figuring right might need to refigure huh? I'm hoping that it will work out right for me

of course had to get this cold! was not in the must do this week list

you take care and don't worry about if you have something to say or not we will respond to most anythin I do know that I miss the birthday wishes noone to the ball and ran with it

I drove...it is 800 miles from my house to Mary's and made it in 14 hours.. I only stop to gas up and "take care of business".. Always anxious to get there and see Mary --- therefore I make it in one day.

I considered flying...but I have to fly way outa the way... and wait on other planes elsewhere... and I do enjoy car traveling so chose to do it that way.

Hope you get over your cold and get to make the trip!! Be thinking of you!

Happy travels,

Joella

I'm working on it want to go so badly been wavering over it for so long but finally decided what the heck

sure I'm using money that would be best saving and being economical but I've wanted to go to that area for so long and then my friend isn't doing overly well with all that has gone on this year I'd hate to waite till a better time read more economical and have her pass on before I made it up there then that gtg was tossed into the loop so going to go and if I regret it finacially then I'll regret it finacially and enjoy the memories

if I go on to SD to get Drivers lincense it will be over 2000 miles but we drove 1200 almost yearly to go to Larry's family so not a whole lot different

you take care

Good to hear from you, Joella. Glad you and Milt are doing well. I know you enjoyed your annual trip to Nebraska.

I haven't been making many trips this year. My grandson was here for a month this summer so got to spend a lot of time with him.

Sorry there aren't cabins at the GTG. We will miss you but I know what you mean about not driving at night. I feel the same way. Maybe we will find a campground with cabins for the Spring GTG.

Joella! So good to hear from you. And to hear you and that tall Texan of yours are doing okay. Sounds like you had a great time on your Nebraska trip. I really do understand how hard it is for you without an RV. We all know we have to hang up the keys at some point and the years fly by so darn fast! I always thought I would be taking off on some new adventures by myself, but now I realize it's never gonna happen. I've gotten 5 years older since my Texas mishap and meeting you guys. I think that aging 5 years is like 10 or 15 years at our current ages. The age thing speeds up as time goes by. Hard to believe I can't do all the things I could do even just 2 or 3 years ago.

Please don't be a stranger. Keep us posted on what you're doing. I can't even imagine clearing out that back 40. It always amazes me how much energy you have! Stay healthy!
