Its fun catching up on everyone. I have been traveling for almost three months and when I have other people always around I just didn't get to the forum very often.
Spent most of the month of June in West Virginia with my son and his family. Got to share a lot of special times with my two granddaughters who are 8 and 10. There was a gymnastic recital, drama camp production, birthday - all those things that are so special to kids.
Then I took the two girls with me on an RV trip to Missouri where we met up with their parents for a family reunion. Along the way we enjoyed a few days at Rudoph Lake CG in Santa Claus, Indiana, and a day at Holiday World amusement park and water park, which adjoins the campground. What a wonderful place for families. I give it five stars.
Met their parents in Hannibal, MO, where the spirit of Mark Twain lives on. Another great experience that I recommend.
Fourth of July weekend was a family reunion that is a whole other story itself. Just gotta say it was great. Then took off with my 15 year old grandson, Garrett, to head back to Colorado Springs. He has his learners permit so he even got to drive out on the wide open plains. Made a stop in St. Joseph, MO, another piece of Americana. The Pony Express started there and there are great museums along with the original stables and offices. Also, went through Jesse James' home where you can still see the bullet hole in the wall and the picture he was straightening when he was shot in the back.
Spent most of July in Colorado. Got to be there for Garrett's Eagle Scout Court of Honor - I'm so proud of him. Took a week and went up into the Rockies to get my "mountain fix" and visit with friends and family. Spent several days in Denver camping at Cherry Creek State Park and doing museums, amusement parks and water parks with my 10 year old grandson.
Left Colorado the end of July with my 13 almost 14 year old granddaughter and headed home. Spent a day in San Antonio and a couple of days over on South Padre Island and just enjoyed hanging out together. She and I travel well together and enjoyed about two weeks together before she had to fly home for school.
OK, now that I've bored you with my summer, I'm looking forward to hearing about summer travels from some of you who haven't posted lately. I know, someone is going to say, we want pictures. Believe it or not, I took very few pictures - just the ones that are stored in my heart. Besides, you know I can never figure out the picture thing.
