My recommendations on Satellite TV.

Buy Direct TV and buy two receivers. If you are like most couples, you like different type shows, and one can watch in living room area...and the other on the bedroom TV. Milt goes to be far earlier than I...and he can watch his shows...while I continue to watch mine in the living room. Direct TV programming all comes on one Satellite dish, and each can watch different channels at the same. Sometimes on Dish Network...one will wish to watch a Program on one Satellite and the mates choice is a different show on a different Satellite. One cannot watch their show..as the receivers will be beamed on the wrong satellite.

We have had the portable, in the yard dish... the roof top that you had to manually find the Satellite and the automatic dish. i can tell you this---- I got to be really good at finding the satellite....BUT there were times nothing I did was right....and it simply was not to be found!! Aggravating as nine kinds of hell!!!

Our last one is an Automatic (though not automatic when the RV is moving)... and I LOVE it. When the young man installed it, I got pen and paper and told him to tell me in "baby language" how to work it, as I knew very little about the operation of Satellite dishes. He said "OK...write this down.... Turn it on------ turn it off!!!" So funny, but he was absolutely correct, that was all there is to it--- and I LOVE It.!! The others are cheaper....and yes you have to be careful about parking under trees....BUT I love that automatic... the Satellite is our main source of entertainment....and I am WORTH the extra purchase/installation cost!! I watched for it to be on sale and bought it then, and have never regretted it.

We have had it moved from RV to RV when we purchased new ones....and have always worked it into the purchase deal...make a deal on price and then throw in we want the Satellite switched from our RV to the new one-----FREE! They have never stuttered over doing that...It's not cost to them...and they make a sale!!

No matter how you do it, I know you will highly enjoy having Satellite service!~

I bought the portable Dish satellite and I wish I bought the automatic one on the roof. Sure would have saved me major frustration trying to 'dial in' the satellite. The people I have talked to who have Direct tell me their portable is a lot easier to use. I've not been able to use the satellite more than I've been able to use it so I'm disappointed.

Hahaha! Vicki!!! Having had both Direct and Dish, let me assure you the tripod dish is just as hard to set on both of them!

I get tickled at some people when they are talking about "THEIRS".... You know how it is....THEIR truck runs the fastest and is the most powerful, their motorcycle is the most wicked---- and their woman is the WILDEST!!!! To be otherwise would infer they made a mistake in judgment----- and heaven forbid they'd admit to that!!!

If I was going to spend the money on satellite TV....I'd install it in my home---- and then would install a Satellite Antenna in the trailer... You could take a receiver or two with you in the RV. You have to pay the monthly subscription cost anyway....so would have it all the time, no matter where you are-- in the home, or in the RV. I'm thinking the installation in the home is free with up to four receivers, installed in four rooms.. You lease the receivers for $5 each monthly. They have a promo going right now for a upgrade of a $199. HD DVR Receiver for free... Free Showtime movies for 3 months.... Check that out.
