Friday night was pot luck dinner night. We had a meeting earlier concerning RVW and RR news.

New friends were made. Scottie, Ann, and Margareta.

Ann is a huge WWII buff so when she met Skip, who joined the Army in 1944, Ann was in her element talking to Skip about her service.

This morning Ann, Sharon, and I drove to the bottom of Palo Duro Canyon to take a one hour horseback ride. For Ann and me the biggest concern was getting on the horse.

Sharon, being younger, didn't have that worry.

The views were spectacular. This is the second largest canyon in the US after Grand Canyon.

Ann is the third one back with Sharon in the lead. Ann's horse bucked a couple of times and Sharon's trotted a little. Mine was like me - does what its told.

And back at the stable its time to reverse the process. The guide took a photo of the three of us with Sharon's camera so it should be on her blog. Tonight we have our steak dinner and see "Texas" in the canyon. Should be fabulous. Tomorrow Ann and I are heading for San Angelo and then home.

What fun going on a scenic horse ride with good friends!

Loved seeing the photos of horse and riders and red scenery of Palo Duro.

Thanks for sharing!

Great pictures Vicki. I asked here if they have a ladder to help be get on my horse next week. I know, with my knees, I will not make it without an assist. They tell me all the horses here are like the one you rode. They go where they are supposed to. My mother's oldest sister served in WWII also. She will be 96 in Oct. I have always admired her for joining. She was in Australia, Guam and the Philipines at different times. It was a long sea voyage for sure and they had to wonder where the enemy was.
