Once when camping on the beach in Florida, we had an invasion of ants in our RV. We looked and found they were entering by crawling up the electric cord and water hose. We used lubricating grease to coat a short section of the water hose and electric cord . The ants did not like that, and quit coming in. When we were ready to leave that campground, the hose and cord were wiped clean with paper towels.

Happy RVing!

Hadn't tried that before, but have used comet and sprinkled it around water and electric hoses and fifth wheel landing and stabilizing jacks, where they also come in. Also had to have a tree branch removed one time that was hanging over the top of the rv. Ants were coming in from above.

OMG, I just purchased a Travel Trailer yesterday it is used but really nice, been looking for one for almost a year. Got it home and today it was covered with sugar ants. What do I do? I sprayed raid, killed them about a hour later more were back, I had carpet and couches, beds, cleaned about 2 hours more were back. Had Orkin come spray it walked out there tonight they are back. I am so upset. What can I do? Any suggestions.

Thanks

Deborah

Best thing I've ever used is Terro. At first you think you're getting more...but they take it back to the colony and it kills them all off.

I have picked up sugar ants several times over the years. They must like to travel. lol I keep some of the little plastic baits for ants in my motorhome all the time. Sometimes I will see a few but have never had that many. If they have a nest in your trailer I would think the bait poison would be the best to get rid of them.

Aww Deborah...what an awful thing to happen...I know it seems impossible right now but you will get rid of those little pests. Doesn't Orkin have some kind of policy where they will come back and re-spray til they are gone? Maybe you need Billy the Exterminator!! When you feel more like loving that TT we would love to see some pics of it. Just love those before and after pics.Umm...not necessarily before pics of ants tho!

lol Snowball, I hope they don't come through the computer. Hope they are under control now per Orkin. I will keep Terro in the trailer all the time though. I read so many blogs and pointers yesterday and 90 % said Terro for Home Depot.

Have a bottle of Terro in the rig and in the house....I swear by it. But like I said..don't be shocked at first because it looks like more are moving in. Ants love the stuff and they will flock around it to feed..just keep putting it out until no more show up to eat. Although it's hard to do...don't try to kill them at the feeding area because you want them to take it back to the colony. Several years ago at a campground there was an ant hill on our area. I drizzled a good amount of Terro on it...next day there was absolutely no ant activity.

Okay...who put the hex on me? Woke up this morning and I have ants all over the kitchen counters! Went to get my Terro and the darn stuff is crystallized...going to have to wait until the grocery store opens to see if they have any...if not drive 16 miles to Wagner to get some.
