We're camping this weekend...well sort of.

http://www.yankton.net/articles/2010/06 ... 228971.txt

This is the town and church where we were married...DH's hometown. A whopping 83 residents...just everyone's dream of a vacation destination! We pulled the rig to Dante last night and stayed over even though it's only 7 miles from where we live. A safety measure because I'm not one to stay up late and party and DH is going to want to party with friends who have returned for the celebration that he hasn't seen in years and this way no one has to drive! ;) So the best solution was just having the rig there...we're only hooked up to a 110 so just lights and fans...luckily it's cool this weekend. I came home this morning to do a few of my weekend chores and then going back later this afternoon.

I read the article and found it very interesting! Being a small town gal, I feel no one can put on a celebration quite like a small community! Makes it special when everyone knows everyone too, and doesn't take a lot of spectacular entertainment to make you happy when you are surrounded by good friends and family all having a wonderful time!

I can see the wisdom of taking your trailer. Enjoy every minute of the Celebration!

Sounds like fun to me. I grew up in an itty bitty town in western Kansas, right on the Colorado border. When I was a kid we had several businesses in town - all that is left now is the post office. It's kind of sad but I guess that's "progress." I graduated from high school in one of the "big" classes - all 10 of us! I know you'll have fun and will enjoy having your own bed right there.

Sounds like great food, fun and frivolity! Enjoy it :)

Sounds like the perfect solution. It is nice to have all your things close by and still be able to enjoy the celebration. Hope you had a blast

Sorry Alice...no pictures..didn't even take the camera...ouch...quit pinching! We ended up with torrential rain and flooding on Saturday night. Right now we still have a lot of roads under water. DH has to drive 12 miles out of the way to get to the farm. Just got the rig home today. It was fun weekend...but when it's not "your" hometown celebration, weekends like that can make a person realize that even after 27 years you can still feel like a bit of an outsider. But I enjoyed the time in the rig since it was the first time we'd been out this year. I'm really looking forward to our 4th of July marathon trip. So much to do before we go. My sister and I washed the 5er a couple Sundays ago...but I haven't done any heavy duty cleaning inside.

Thanks for the kind words Sheila...maybe I get back into the posting and chatting groove sometime!
