On here earlier than normal just sitting doing nothing other than waiting for a cousin to stop by and saw that we haven't been very active on the forum today guess we have all been busy...so thought I'd start the ball rolling and hopfully someone will keep it rolling!

Went to the big family history library today copied off some census's trying to piece together dh's family. Went to the library the other day as well and then yesterday just sat at my computer and looked through what I could find...not easy when you are computer illiterate!

Then last night I went out to doll class........not liking my camel not sure what to do with him so left him alone don't they say something about stepping back and leave it alone if you aren't sure what to do so will deal with him when I go to class on Weds. And started a set of Christmas elves for my mom there are 3 of them cute little guys when finish will finish them this fall I hope. I also have a couple of little fairies started should finish them next week I'm thinking and will make another larger one...I want to make a wreath for my dd who loves fairies so the wreath I make for her has to have fairies on it and I haven't been able to locate them free standing...so says I I'll make them yes! never worked on something that small before not the best face never done a face before but we are all getting older and our teacher is older still and told me I had to do the face yipes! Not sure how long she will keep the shop open that is a disquiting thought. It's cheap theropy

Tonight my dd is coming over suppose to teach her how to make carmels yum!

So now that I've totally bored you can think I have noone else to blame but myself I could have posted!!

You all have a good day

Had a dove earlier and the saying in it was

Give yourself permission to just be yourself

Hi, Sheila -

I didn't have anything to add - just didn't want you to think no one was reading your post! You've been pretty busy, lady. Honestly, how can you be bored with all you do?

Gotta listen to the dove, even the chocolate ones!

I spent the day shopping in Baton Rouge with a friend. I don't know who put bricks in my purse but that thing needs wheels. I feel like I walked 10 miles. When I was working and pre Katrina we use to take off for a week end in Baton Rouge or New Orleans several times a year.

I don't like the style of clothes that are out now. They have big flower looking things sewed on some blouses and even purses. Sandals that look like Roman Gladiator shoes seem to be the in thing. And high heels, really high.

No plans for the weekend other than getting ready to leave for the Aransas Pass GTG. Trying to decide whether to take my fishing gear. Maybe I can scale it down some and not take all of it.

Sheila, neat to hear about your busy day. I know you enjoy ceramics. I know your dd will be so pleased with her wreath with fairies, and your Mom her elves! I notice on some of those tiny faces, all the painting done is some closed eyes, and a little dot or two for the nose. Some are simple yet good-looking. There used to be a glaze, and don't know the name of it, I used to do animals with. Did some lions with it. It is in a "lion color"...and as it fires in the kiln, particles settle into the groves of the animal and gives it the appearance of shading and looks really good. We used to have a game room and I did a lot of "jungle animals" to go along with the many live plants in there. Called that room the "Jungle room"... Kids used to visit to play pool with our kids--- and they broke a couple of big animals knocking pool balls off the table. I told them in the future if they broke one, they had to pay to replace it. They didn't have to pay enough for me to make a profit--- just to recover buying and painting another like it. They NEVER broke another one... someone could get to that pool ball before it hit my animals!! Ain't it amazing!!!????

Know you are enjoying working on the family history.

You'll have to let us know all about the Carmel lessons. Know getting together with your daughter was a hoot. Family is so important. Good you are near for a while and can enjoy.

My day was one of those busy ones that has no "news telling". Milt got the yard mowed and weed-eated in readiness of our trip to the Rally in Aransas Pass next week.

We are getting a much needed rain....and thus far, have 1.9". God's rain is SO much better than our attempt to keep up with watering!!

Enjoy the day, all y'all!

Joella

Hi there….I probably should re-introduce myself! Just haven’t been in the posting mode…we had a long spell dreary cold rainy weather and it put me in a funk. Not much new around here…work and home. I did spend a couple of days at Missy’s greenhouse playing in the dirt. It always makes me feel good when she calls and reports that all my creations are gone and when am I coming back. I tend to make high end planters that cost the big bucks…why not…I don’t have to pay for them! It was finally sunny yesterday so after work I planted a couple of my pots, vacuumed and de-winterized the camper and filled it with water. Had water coming through all the faucets except the hot water in the kitchen. DH played around with it for awhile and decided that we needed a new kitchen faucet. When I look back it was a little touchy last summer. Then I turned on the refrigerator and held my breath, but the thermometer in the freezer started dropping and was almost to 20* by the time I went to bed. Our 5er is a ’99 and was used as a full-time winter home for nine years so keep expecting it to bite the dust at anytime…did I ever mention that I’m a bit of a pessimist?

Today we have several graduation parties we are suppose to attend. I promised a friend from work that I would go to her house at 1:30 to make platters etc..and just be there in case guest started showing up before they returned. Easy out…and I don’t have to sit through the graduation!

You all have a good day…and those attending the GTG have a great time…pictures!

Oh…Alice…Ruth is looking fine!

Same here! Bouts of sun are helping though. Went clamming yesterday, VERY low tide. Got our limit and then treated ourselves to a cheeseburger at the local dive!!!! YUM!!! The kind of place you can walk into with sandy boots and reeking of "low tide" smell. Had to laugh cause most of the conversations around us dealt with child custody, jail time and run ins with govt officials!!! Made our life seem rather tame. Then home for cleaning of the clams. Sis will freeze them and make chowder for Christmas eve. Then built a fire to take the chill off the house and dozed while watching Harry Potter. A good day.

I've been in St Paul to see my youngest graduate from Macalester College. Her birthday was also teh 14th. We were just busy, busy, busy! At a ceremony Friday night for the kids of color the families were invited to speak - Christian went to the mic and said that his little sister had inspired him to go back to school - many tears, many hugs. It was wonderful. We explored MANY wonderful restaurants along the way - Nepalese, Thai, Russian - and of course, instead of working on losing weight - I just added more. I'm back in Portland now, pick Christian up tomorrow when he flies in and am taking him to his Dad's in Bend. I get my rig ready, get the brakes worked on Thursday and if all goes well, will be off Friday for the Tetons.

I am having 'issues' with a gal who moved into Christian's house for a few minutes. Much to my, and the neighbors, dismay she moved in a 'friend' who was in fact dealing heroin from the house. I have never had to deal with such an issue in my life! Whatever made her think this was OK? And yes I know - addiction issues totally addle one's perception of 'OK'. I could have gone forever without dealing with this. The police are no help - although the official dealer is in jail - I'm off to figure out how to evict her. My week's challenge. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh

shelia, we open the clams (Gapers, or Empires), clean them, skin the necks and then grind the meat. They are very big (a small one is the size of a clenched fist), and chewy. Not really good for much more than chowder but they taste great. Once they are ground we freeze them.. usually wait for the REALLY low tides and them you get the big ones. Might try making fritters next time too.
