Back in the day when we used our RV every weekend, it was stocked and ready to leave ASAP. The Refrigerator was always cold, with staple condiments in it...such as ketchup, mayo, jelly, etc. We could load pills, clothing and other personal needs, a few fresh veggies, bread, meat and such--- and be gone at the drop of a hat. The pantry was stocked and our home and our RV each had their own full stock of supplies. --- Many a time I'd run out of coffee and run out to the RV and bring in a new can of coffee from that pantry.

We had friends in southern CA who's trailer was stored 1 1/2 hours drive away, so they even had clothes that stayed in the trailer. When ready to travel, they loaded the dog and took off to pick up the trailer. It was stored at her sisters farm, so they'd visit a couple of days with sister and then take off on their trip. When they arrived at their destination, THEN they made a trip to the store and bought groceries.

How do your keep your RV stocked? Ever-ready or no?

Happy RVing!

Joella do you keep your new RV ready to head out?

I need to have my RV at a storage lot about 20 min. away but it is basically stocked. When ready for a trip I get the dogs groomed, grocery shop for the trip, pack a suitcase with additional clothes, load up the coach and head out usually in the AM. Bill brings his stuff down the night before then drives his tow car down in the morning, hooks it up to the MH and then we (with the pups) head out.

Can't wait to get on the road but the MH is in the shop.

I only have to purchase some groceries - meat, veggies - and take a lot of stuff from the home fridge like mayo, cheese, condiments, dog food. Everything else is already in the RV. I've got makeup, curling iron, shampoo, toothbrush, etc. already in the RV and plenty of clothes ready to go. Nothing to load up. Make sure I have pills, glasses, phone, GPS and thats about it. I could probably be ready to go in an hour of less. My RV is stored about 5 minutes from my house. When I get home I wash the linens and clothes and put them right back into the RV.

My little Gypsywagon is ready to go in short order. Fortunately, right now she is parked right next to my fifth wheel home. I transfer some food from the fridge and freezer, grab a few clothes, meds, etc. and I'm on the road within an hour. Right now I'm getting ready for a two and a half month trip so it is taking a bit more pre-planning. I'm a list maker, so I always have a list of what I need to replenish. Unless I am going to be parked way out of town, I often do my grocery shopping after I leave. There's always different grocery stores and fresh food markets to explore. The staples I keep in the motorhome.

I was so used to always having the RV ready and raring to go over the years with sets of clothes, staple foods, etc. that now I don't know any other way. I'm finding that I keep stuff in there that I rarely use, so I need to figure out just what I actually need. Years of habit are ingrained. Since the rig is in the yard it was always easy to run out to the pantry whenever I ran out of something in the house. Now I don't cook like I used to; don't need sightseeing clothes like I used to; haven't used the spices at all; and I've been carting around games, etc. for 3 years that I haven't used. Don't need a cribbage board when you're alone! However, I still think it's smart to keep a couple pair of jeans, a couple of shorts, some tees, undies and sweatshirts always packed in the rig. Ya never know when you'll need to use the rig for emergency living (remember I'm in earthquake country, but the same could be said of any emergency).

Nope...but I'm working on getting it to that point. Think I'll always have to pack clothes...just always seem to have a shortage on those...not the clothes horse that I used to be.

My RV is ready to go with clothes, basic food supplies, toiletries, etc. It's parked behind the garage & I've had to use it in emergencies. Just last week, my house fridge went on the fritz, so I loaded up the groceries & carried them all out to the trailer until I could get the house fridge fixed. I've also used the trailer when we've had power outages. It's handy to have a mini-home with a generator!
