This past weekend I went to the Palestine Ramblin Roses Rally. I hadn't planned to go but my son's doctor's appointment was changed so I loaded up and went. The park was kind of small for one of our rallys and they were full up but I was able to share a site with Sharon. A good time was had by all and too much food as usual. Friday we had an Italian pot luck and Saturday we cooked our food in foil on a grill like girl scouts. Been a long time since I have done that. Will try to post some pictures.

Well, I won't be posting any pictures. As usual I can't get photobucket to work.

Maybe that's why Martha's Photobucket won't work!! It's been blackmailed into not being cooperative. Send the photos to me, Martha--- I'll post them for you. We do love seeing them! Be happy to help out.

Have a good day....I will!

Joella

This is R Place RV Park Between Palestine and Rusk, Texas.

Another shot of the RV Park. You can see why I could squeeze into Sharon's space. They are roomy.

This footbridge was first built in 1861 so residents east of town could access town in the rainy season.

The bridge is not as long as this photo makes it look.

That looks like a very nice park, Martha!! Neat--- and long bridge!!

Thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks for posting those for Martha Joella :) I'll add some as well, along with a little commentary. As Martha said, the "R" Place RV Park was nice and rustic with trees and large sites. Margareta had to cancel at the last minute. She has a friend who was in the hospital and felt compelled to stick around in San Antone. We missed you Margareta. But to offset that, our friend Martha was able to join us unexpectedly, which was a treat! And I mean that literally ;) Once again, she spoiled me with chocolate pralines! :) They were an awesome snack on my six hour ride home on Sunday :)

Vicki brought her friend Ann along. She must have thought we were Ok, because she didn't make Vicki take her home before the weekend was over ;) hahaha!!! Here's a shot of Ann, Martha and Vicki, doing what we do best. Eat! And would ya look at the size of those bowls! ROFL!!!

Our cg was located between the two towns of Palestine and Rusk. The Texas State Railroad runs between them. Several carfulls headed for a train ride on Saturday. Here's the Palestine Depot.

I actually stopped here on my way home on Sunday, because I was in one of the two carloads that went to Rusk to do what's billed as the "Nations Longest Footbridge" Tour. It looked much larger in the pictures. lol But we got a kick out of it and had a great time anyway ;) And, it was a beautiful day with plentiful sunshine to be enjoyed :)

Back at the cg, there was plenty going on. There is a catch and release stocked pond. Thought for sure Martha would have her pole out, but we went to the Velma Velcro session at the club house instead ;)

Martha and I learning all about the many uses for velcro in your RV. The President of our Chapter hosted the rally and did the presentation. And I have to tell you, she is a real hoot!

Sat night, we built a campfire for dinner and cooked our foil packed meals. Why is it someone always wants to take your picture when you're eating? Vicki is infamous for that! lol I'm using some of her pictures. (Hope you don't mind Vicki ;) Here we are around the fire pit. Ann and I trying to enjoy our meal.

And me, just mindin my own business, enjoying my Shiner Bock, smoked pork chop, snow peas and taters. I gave her "THE" look ;) ROFL!!! This was one of those bribery shots that was just too funny NOT to share ;) It didn't deter her though. She just kept a right on snappin ;)

We had a ball as usual :) Vicki even got a bonus! I'll let her share that with y'all :)

Love,

Sharon

Hi Martha,

Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself at the RVW/TRR Rally. I sure wish I could have attended. I am going to try to make the one in April, if at all possible. Will you be attending?

Looking forward to seeing your pics from the TRR Rally.

Send me an email at my yahoo address, if you would like to meet me at the RV show this Saturday in Lafayette. My sister will take my place for a few hours, so that I may go check out the new RVs and gagdets.

Looks like another fun Ramblin' Roses weekend. I'll make another one - but this one and the April one are just a looong way from the Valley. Good to know that no one went hungry!
